Hello everyone

I am putting the wiring back in my LC after about 10 years and about to install the dash. The car had a standard loom altered to suit GTR dash.

For the ammeter I have 6mm cable from the alternator to the ignition, light switch, fuse box (previously in standard form this was fed from the fusible link) and the old fusible link cable is extended and runs direct to the ammeter.

My question is which wire to connect to which terminal on the ammeter. Ammeter has GEN and B marked so I assumed that GEN indicates generator or alternator but is this correct?

Thanks Simon

That's not correct. Amp gauge would only show battery charge rate. No indication of discharge. Also the fusible should be in discharge cct not the charge

Have to check but thought wire from Alternator went directly to gauge. GEN terminal and another wire from Gauge B goes back to terminal on starter connected to fusable link and battery cable.

Looking at the LJ GTR wiring diagram the fusible link wire connects directly to the B connection on the ammeter and the GEN connection feeds into the RED main power wire that connects to terminal 7 on the fuse panel, the ignition switch, the headlight switch and back to the B+ or B connection on the alternator.

Thanks Dave, I’ve stripped back the tape from the modified loom and the wiring reflects what you have advised,

Alternator wire into the car feeds into the fuse box, ign switch, lights switch and is spliced to a wire that terminated at the ammeter.

Fusible link wire into the car has been extended and terminates at the ammeter no other connection on this wire.

Thanks for the assistance, I will wire as per your reply to the ammeter.

Simon
