You would have a number of photos of the hatch, progressing through the fabrication and rust repair work you did on the hatch. I must get some copies in due course. FWIW Rodney did a fantastic job on getting the car back from bear metal to readiness to paint. Cheers Ron

LOWER B PILLAR SECTIONS
AND SILL REPAIR SECTIONS
(please forgive the way this is written, I copied it from my original Facebook post)
I have finally completed development work on the B pillar and sill section directly under the pillar. This is a common problem for the LH LX model as it rusts from the inside out, so if you have little bubbles or holes showing around the base of the pillar there's a good chance that you will need to cut out more than what you can see on top.
These parts will save you quite a lot of time and effort with most of the hard work done for you. You can order single pieces or the whole set. As usual, all made from 1mm cold rolled steel sheet, tig welded where necessary and etch primed for transport.
All prices include regular postage with signature and tracking.
SILL REPAIR SECTIONS $195 each or $345 pair
LOWER B PILLAR SKIN SECTIONS $365 each or $695 pair
LEFT or RIGHT HAND KIT
2 Pieces (1 sill + 1 pillar skin)
$560 including delivery
FULL REPAIR KIT
Four pieces (2 sills +2 pillar skins)
$995 including delivery
Feel free to message me or email me if you would like to order

Long term.. I know that feeling, my truck has become long term mostly because I don't have enough hours in the day to work on customer cars, heaven forbid I should get to do my own lol. One day... Actually that's about all it got about 2 years ago

Thanks Heath, I appreciate it.Very nice looking products.
I'm working on door shell corners and sections and a couple of other things. Just trying to fill a few gaps for people who aren't able to diy some of the more complex panels. I'll post everything I make here in this thread so it's all together. If people want something specific made please feel free to make suggestions and I will try to help.

From here the rails will be fully boxed from radiator support to diff mounts.

Haven't got all the way through the process yet but there was no problem with the plans. He saw the parts before I welded anything to the shell. How did you go with the engineers certification ?

Are you selling these for 'off road purpose' ?
I went through this process in the '90's & i was flatly refused by the Qld D.O.T . While they would allow a bolt in solution , a weldment was not permitted because it interfered with the ADR specified crumple zone.
I couldn't afford to build a car & have them crash test it.

I'm in Victoria, anyone buying this kind of thing should definitely be consulting with an engineer in their state before fitting. Are you selling these for 'off road purpose' ?

This is also the reason why the extensions only go to the diff mount and not to the rear subframe which still allows the rear of the car to react normally if the unfortunate event of a rear collision was to occur. The engineer I have shown these to locally didn't see any problems with the system and even suggested ways that connection to the the rear frame could be achieved.
A lot has changed since the 90s, I grew up in qld and there was a lot you couldn't do and a bunch of crazy stuff you could, if it is something you would like to do to your car I'd suggest talking to a current engineer of good reputation and see what you can do nowadays.

My car was engineered with fully welded chassis, and connectors, no problems in 1988. Was not allowed to go past the front cross member as it would affect the crumple zone, there was no issue with rear connection at all.

These are directly underneath the rear occupants of the vehicle. I wouldn't want a crumple zone there!!!

I'm not an engineer so I can only offer an educated guess of what would happen but either way I suggest that the best course of action is to keep your wits about you, your mind on the road at all times and keep yourself out of harms way. That way you can enjoy the benefits of the parts without finding out if there are any weaknesses.
The old method of cutting the floor to slide RHS into the standard rails is going to create a lot bigger problems for occupants than my version would.

I will be making a set next week so if you are interested in getting one, a pair, full set, or just the crush tubes by themselves, let me know so I can cut them out at the same time. *Prices are shown in the photo*
