Nothing like the video I posted for the cam sound.
As I said before I've never heard an old gray motor sound like a lumpy v8.
I can say that with a lot of confidence too. Because our family use to race the old gray moors way back in the day. To the point of running them on 15% alcohol and nitro turned one on Allan Butcher engine dyno with a total of 72 degrees advanced and 9000rpm.
So as I said I've never heard any gray motor even one well and truly off its head for racing sound like a lumpy v8.

Gee, my humble apology mate. Seems I touched a nerve.

Nah mate not even the slightest.
But it did give me a laugh that you thought an old grey motor cold sound like that though

But those days are long gone and I'm not worried about winning races anymore.
So here is the cam card for my cam. This thing will have excellent low down and mid range torque and should carry hp to around 6800 to 7000rpm.
Funny thing is I couldn't find anything that was like this on the shelf from anyone.
When I asked on a usa site I found out that the ASA High lift cam is almost the same specs that I worked out for this engine.
227/235@50 277/289 advertised duration.
My dynamic compression ratio will be just under 8.6 to 1.
With 11.3 static compression ratio. Perfect for 95 or 98 octane and still able to run E10 if need be.

How do you work out the cam required?

By knowing the engine specifications you can match a cam up to just about any given engine.
Valve timing is key for an engine to work to its full potential.
It's something that you learn over a long time unless you grow up with people who teach you.
I was lucky to have the later and be involved in motor racing for a long time from birth basically.

Finally had time to spend on the lathe to turn up a custom aerial mount for the electric aerial out of some 6061 alluminium. Need to get it anodised.
Also made up a plenum drain fitting as one was missing from the car.
I have made a 2 peice sleeve fitting to press in from the top and bottom with some sealant between them to prevent any rust again. Plus I'll paint it in KBS to be sure.
