Finally fitted the mounting points on the diff for the shocks.
Folded some 5mm flat bar into a U shape and drilled a 14mm hole for the bolt to go through.
Just have to get some longer bolts now.
Also run brake lines and fitted mounting clips to hold in place firmly.
Changed where they run from inside the front chassis rail to the outside and drilled some holes to run them through at the front.

Fitted the fuel lines most of the way through to the engine bay. Just have to save up for the expensive little fuel filters that go in line on the -8 1/2" metal hard lines now. About $460 for them and the correct fittings.
Ordered the tie bar Lutani roller lifters and comp cams valve springs from summit racing in the usa. Waiting for them to arrive now.
Then next month I can send off my cylinder heads to be CNC ported flowed and cc for comp ratio.

How much horsepower are you looking for? The gearbox may need some work to cope with much more than standard.  It is why both of my LX8's are parked up. No second gear.

The 4l60 box is a known weak spot and will be upgraded with heavy duty parts.
As I'm pushing for 300+kw at all 4 wheels 400+hp in old school rage. About 650 at the flywheel will do it.
That's why the comp ratio was bumped up to 11.8 to 1 and run some E85 through it's veins.

Don't think your front diff will take that, read some horror stories of hotted up CTS V's that have spat the diff out of the sump, same setup used in the LX8"s.

Only one way to find out.
But there is a few turbo and blown adventra around now so there must be a few upgrades available now.

Well fresh out of hospital on Wednesday arvo from heart surgery and back into rebuilding parts today.
Front Brake calipers cropped a full rebuild.
Sandblasted and painted to look better than new.
Twin piston 305mm vented fronts should stop it.

Every time I look at the specs of the 2 different cars vy adventra and the lx torana I still can't believe that I managed to get it all to fit.
1617 front wheel track down to less than 25mm more than the ls 1485mm in the a9x and then the difference in wheel base.
Wow it's been a long road.

Finished running the fuel lines to the engine bay today.
Fitted all 1/2" metal/alloy lines with aeroflow fittings and a inline aeroflow fuel filter with a 100 micron washable filter.
Have run them on the outside of the passenger side chassis rail tobe different and through the brace at the A pillar up through the inner guard.
Also started looking at where the ECU will sit in the engine bay behind the passenger side strut tower. Will need to call on my auto electrician again to do some wiring harness mods again (shortern/remove about 18") on the engine harness.
Will need to get a drop tank custom made to suit my setup too as it will need to have 1/2" inlet and outlet plumbing and built in surge take to hold a Walbrow 525 pump or twin 460 pumps depending on fuel requirements
But it's slowly getting closer to being finished.

Great project you got there, well done on your hard work and skills making it fit.

I put my ECU in the glove box and regret not making the loom long enough to put it elsewhere like the boot, I originally thought the engine bay was the best option but the loom wasn't suitable so it ended up in the glove box. At the end I don't think it would have fitted easily in the engine bay, before you put it in the engine bay consider all the other stuff you will have to put there also and see if you have enough room for everything

They are fitted in the engine bay area on all vy vz v8 Commodores.
By putting it behind the strut tower it is out of the way.

Ive been slowly setting myself up to make stand alone LS1 harnesses.

All brand new plugs and wire, with the ability to provide it with any extra length for custom installs.

Not interested in anything to do with the electronic autos at this stage, and can set them up for MAF or MAFLESS as I go.

Not sure if there would be any market for something like that though.

Will see what happens down the track I guess.

Cheers

Rob

Hi Rob.
There are a few companies that make them now.
The reason I haven't changed the harness is with the adventra setup you can't delete anything out of the system. If you do it puts the car into limp mode. It's the only ls platform that has this problem I'm led to believe.

Well started doing the exhaust system that I've been putting off.
Running factory ls1 avalanche extractors to 100 cel cats twin 2.5 inch stainless steel system.
Spent a couple of hours making my x pipe this afternoon. Should work all right I say.
Ported the inside out to get rid of any bursts or drags inside of it.

Thats where SolarFlux is great.

It stops the crap on the inside of the welds.

Does the same sort of thing as back purging.

Have seen a couple of ads for harnesses, but each of them required you to supply them and they reworked them.

That type of thing is something I could also ad in. but I will end up getting the right plugs for autos down the line.

Just want to get the engine side done first.

Had a chat with Jeff Dellow and he is keen to help in marketing.

Cheers

Rob

Well as I'm setting out the exhaust I have made the decision to run it under the diff.
I know that people will say no but I don't care. I have 60mm clearance to the diff and 100mm to the ground with the mufflers I'm using.

I also don't think it's a bad thing. Particularly if you run no longer shock that you need, and package the exhaust accordingly. I've also done this on my hatch.

Well all the exhaust is tacked together. Going to let my son tig weld it up so he can have some practice. Will be grinding it all smooth just like stainless steel hand rails.

All tacked up and if you look closely you might see the metal fuel lines.

Does the car have to comply with whatever noise limits were around when the VY was released?

Not that I'm aware of. Only has to meet Torana sound noise from the era I believe.
If it to loud I can change the mufflers easily enough.
