I was lucky enough to be able to drive on part of the old Warwick Farm circuit.

It was on an advanced driver training day.

We only had a bit of the straight, and then some windy bits, running 2 ways.

It was a fantastic day.

I then went on to do another day at Amaroo Park.

And I had a tow truck at Oran Park for many years.

The old Bedford was great fun trying to keep on the black bits.

Cheers

Rob

I was a regular from a night meet at the end of 79 I think.

It was the first appearance of an XD Group C car in the hands of Garry Willmington.

I got a pic from Autopics with us centrefield. We were the only tow truck that night.
The owner of the truck was a good friend of the Clerk of Course Mal Halligan I think his name was.

It had a white cab and Ford Raw Orange jib.

It had a 326 Pontiac V8 in it. Went quite well actually.

The very old tyres smoked up quite easily.

We were generally the only tow truck that turned up for practice and race day.

I gave it away when the other operators that had only turned up on Saturdays banded together to run the show.

We were relegated to the shittiest part of the track. So I told them to shove it.

Cheers

Rob

There you go, I was there that same night when Willmington brought out that very stock looking metalalic light blue XD. Looked like grandad car with flares.
He was ahead of the curve, considering his privateer status and budget. Thanks for the memories.

It was exactly that, a 6cyl XD with body kit. There is an AMC magazine issue all about him and it.

Great photos. Top two are 1975. Rod and Russ McRae were punching above their weight there. Qualified and finished in fourth place.
