It is nice to see some Sports Sedan races. You can see Harvey running the number 207, which means this was the last race the HDT A9Xs competed in. The ABC still has the footage they took of the races in the 70's but they won't sell it to anyone. They released a couple of DVD's featuring races at Amaroo and Sandown about 15 years ago, but they must have a hundred hours of footage sitting in their warehouse.

This pic is the finish of the last race for the Torana. It was not a staged finish for the cameras. Brocky had slowed on the last lap to allow Harvey to catch up, but John said after the race that he was gunning for the win. At the time it looked like the HDT was only going to run the one Commodore the following year so he probably thought he was out of a job anyway.

Another little tidbit is that in the footage of the 79 Sports Sedan footage, the ex 1976 Brock L34, which was bought by Gary Cook and raced as the Citizen Watches car is being driven by Warwick Brown who won the 1975 New Zealand Grand Prix, and the 1977 Australian Grand Prix. he also raced Formula 1 overseas and came runner up to Alan Jones in the 1978 US CAN-AM series. As far as I know, this race at Baskerville is the only tin top race he competed in. He was holding third place up until the second last lap, when he was spun out by an LJ Sports Sedan.
