Aftermarket Gauges in Original Facia

I still wanted that original look but with the engine swap I wanted all electric gauges.
I only had a facia. So I bought some brackets off of Benjamin ([email protected]) he has said he was happy to link his email but would need a few orders before he could make up a new batch. They needed only slight adjusting for the smaller brackets as well as some very minor grinding on a few of the gauge holes to fit.
I used the VDO Vision series gauges to closely match the original.
The brackets are designed to fit narva 14mm pilot lights. 2 for the top and one for the bottom.
The brackets are designed for the 85mm gauge and Ben provides a document which details how to fit those. I already had the 80mm gauges so I had to make some tabs. They sit out a bit but I couldn't be bothered making my tabs space them back.
I also used some ebay special pilot lights for the engine management and high beam indicator lights.
You could use the same principle with any 52mm/85mm gauge series although the thickness of the gauge bezel may affect fitment.
If this is in the wrong section feel mods please delete.

That's an LC fascia you have used. For a modern factory look, it's pretty sweet
(The factory gauges for LJ had the Temp/Fuel, Volt/Oil in opposite positions- the Temp/Fuel is correct for LC though- not that it matters in your application.)
I reckon it makes sense to have the two important gauges -Temp & Oil - on the same side though, just my thoughts.

Do you have all the lower mounting brackets for the LC instrument panel? You will need them to fit that dash in your LJ.

Cheers Graham.

Here is a fuel sender converter if you need one. Will work with later MRA units too if you modify your tank for an EFI engine for example.

That's a good link. So basically that module will convert my signal from the original xu1 style sender (30 ohm?) And I can convert it to read properly on the VDO gauge? Here is a fuel sender converter if you need one. Will work with later MRA units too if you modify your tank for an EFI engine for example.

I’m using mine to convert the signal from the VY MRA I had fitted to the GTS’s tank, to the HK fuel gauge. From memory the VY MRA is 40-250 and the HK dash is 0-30. I like the low fuel level switch too, will be a good reminder tool. I remember running out of fuel twice in my ‘57 Chev due to the vagaries of the gauge on the dash.

I used a factory facia
The mounting brackets for the gauges are from Benjamin (email in the first post)
Gauges are the VDO Vision series. 52mm I think for the small ones and 80mm for the larger ones (the brackets are designed to fit 85mm gauges, this seller can supply all the gauges at the specific size you want.)

The lights for the indicators and brake light are narva 14mm pilot lights.

The engine light and high beam indicators I just got these cheap ebay ones, they are small and are black when they aren't lit up. (they have all different symbols available)
