The three anomalies I can find at Bathurst 1977 are the Janson / Perkins "T" car, The ex Bob Forbes L34 driven by Ross Bond and Russ McRae, and BPR-01. These were all converted to A9X specs prior to that race. The rest of the L34's raced as such. Was BPR-01 log booked as an L34 when it was first built?

Looks like 7, 8, 24 and 29 were raced as A9X sedans and 19, 26 and 30 were raced as L34.
I wonder how many of the sedans still racing in 1978 and 1979 were LH's or at least raced as L34's and were converted to A9X homologation? The L34 must have formed part of the A9X homologation so you'd imagine they'd keep using the old LH bodies if they had to.

The a9x used the L34 engine

Yes I know, but could only do so by homologation sleight of hand.

The 3 anomalies :
1 : BPR-01 ( Answer ) LX Chassis
2 : Janson/Perkins "T" car ( Answer ) Practice car not race car
3 : Ross Bond & Russ McRae ( Answer ) I have'nt got one because I can not find any information on these 2 drivers which suggests that either competed in the 1977 Bathurst race ?
Has anyone got any information on Ross Bond & Russ McRae competing in the 1977 Bathurst race ( Laurie ) ?

I don't have much time to get into this today, but just quickly, No. 7 was a new A9X, No. 8 was a new A9X, No. 24 was a new LX (?), and No. 29 could be Arnull's old L34, as I have heard that until not that long ago that he still had a brand new GMP&A 4 door shell in his shed, so maybe he got that logbooked somehow?
Frank Gardiner and Allan Grice also had a new 4 door A9X entered, but it didn't race, and the same goes for the second car of Bruce Hindhaugh and Garth Wigston.
The Ross Bond - Russ McRae entry was the ex Forbes L34 converted to A9X, but they were too slow to qualify.

Sorry Bruce. My mistake. They were entered but too slow to qualify so never started the race.

There was another anomaly Laurie I think, car 3.
Very good. I never thought of that.

Hi Laurie
Of the 11 LX GMP&A 4 door race bodies ( 7 rollers & 4 shells ) my records indicate that only 1 of the 11 never made it to the track. This is a well known car and attended various A9X nationals. I believe it has recently changed hands........

April 2020. Reserve not met? Just digging a little deeper, (I try to concentrate on the L34's so my A9X timelines can be a bit scratchy) it looks like the A9X four door and hatchback driven by Phill Arnull were owned by Graham Ryan. The hatch was later sold to Grice. The four door still had the LH mirror though.

I guess BPR just ran out of time to convert the old Brock car to A9X specs with the work they had on their hands getting BPR-01 and BPR-02 ready for Bathurst.
The old car pictured above was in A9X spec when it was transferred to Gary Cooke 23-2-78.
Found this online about the old Team Brock car. Proper road going L34. Ran 4th at Bathurst in 1978.
