Hello All.
I am trying to tap into the brains trust and have a query in relation to timing on a marinized 202. These are the apparent timing marks on the flywheel shroud and a mark on flywheel lines up when checking timing. So I have only recently come into possession of this ski boat and just to dot my I's and cross the T's I checked the timing (at idle). Only issue is I am not 100% sure on which mark is TDC. On the setting it came at it runs rough and sounds cool and like it has a big cam. Turn the distributor to advance timing the engine runs smoother and idle picks up heaps. I guess my question is can anyone confirm which timing mark is TDC, is the crows foot mark?
I checked engine numbers and found engine to be a 202 black motor with 12 port head, electronic distributor and a Holley 350, I was initially concerned about the 202 not having enough power but was pleasantly surprised. Has plenty of go for a family ski boat. I have done sea trials with the timing advanced to the bottom mark and it definately tended to rev higher at WOT. So I would love to just confirm the marks! I am not mechanically challenged as in the past I was a fitter and turner and marine fitter. So I have half a clue, just nit specifically on the 202! And yes, I am a Holden man!
Thanks in advance for any assistance!
