Hi all,

I'm restoring LJ Gtr 7/72 Brisbane car. Can anyone provide me with images of battery tray location and what it actually looks like, also was this car fitted with bosch or lucas alternator.

Thank you

Excellent attention to detail Dave. Very helpful information to assist everyone. Fundamentally that's what this forum is and should be all about, being a valuable, accurate, detailed and unique source of information.

Thank you very much Dave, this is exactly what I was looking for. Appreciate your help.

Would you happen to know if my car was fitted with lucas or bosch alternator.

Thanks Nick

If it's a 7th month 72 I would say a Bosch ,the early ones tend to be Lucas.

Is your wiring harness factory original and is it set up to suit internal or an external regulator?

:fool: Apologies Paul, I have accidentally quoted your post.

I meant to quote the OP's post, as follows.

Would you happen to know if my car was fitted with lucas or bosch alternator.

Thanks Nick

On an LC? None. LC all came with external reg alternators. Internal reg alternators were introduced into LJ production around mid 1972.

On a 7/72 Brisbane built car, from the factory I'd say bosch external regulator would be correct.

Hi Dave, I'm in the process of installing battery tray identical to the one in your images. I'm going to fit triple 175 CD carburetors to the 202motor , will the carburetor air cleaners hit battery tray/battery?

Thanks Nick

Nick, if you install a big battery tray in the original std position as per the dimensions shown in my pics the battery will foul the triple carbs. You need to install the tray so it is in a similar position to the smaller XU-1 battery tray, the air cleaner housing on the front carb will just miss the battery and the bonnet should still close.
