Even your bored out 179 should be close enough for it to work pretty well
I believe harry firth himself chose the best examples from the hopper on the line
for superior choke pulling performance
The rare spares replacement ones must be the best, though
Don’t they say you get what you pay for??
Big idea happened right then
Might give mine the big dose of the graphite powder
might make it easier to use
Sometimes being a goon pays off after all

The xu1 cable would have to work better than any other cable, being correctly jetted and calibrated to a 202.

With a bored out 179 wouldn't Clay be better off with a choke cable of an LC XU1?

LC same as LJ exc silver circle on knob face and outer conduit white instead of black.

Missed the point. Re-read Bruce's post at top of page.

Ideally the centre cable would be full length or centre screw is trying to clamp two wires. Thinking about a bell crank setup to reduce the pull.

Yes better if choke cable is one piece through to centre carb but 2 piece should still work if cable clamp screw at junction block is tight.
I think operating the SU choke is always going to give more resistance esp with three carbs.
The cable isn't just pulling the fast idle cam it is also activating the lever that pulls the jet assy down to enrich the micture.

I don't see the relevance, it is just a length of wire inside a casing.

Makes sense, but buggered if I can feel any difference

Didn’t finish it, got busy elsewhere
Dash cable goes in top hole, carb cable in middle one
The carb cable needs 1 inch of travel to fully activate choke.
Doubles dashboard knob travel, should halve the effort to pull it.
Can’t bring myself to install something so ugly under my bonnet
Could call it an experimental prototype, but I fear if I put it in, it will
end up staying there
Can’t think of how to do it better yet, so I am still putting choke on by hand
Under the bonnet for the first start of the day
Bonnet’s usually up, anyway

There is that pic of my fine work
Haven’t fitted the cable clamp on the near side

Yeah having an LC myself with a plastic lower dash panel you have to be a bit careful with the choke operation. It takes one hand to firmly support the panel face (so it doesn't crack) and the other to pull the choke cable. Takes a bit of effort with the triple SU's all hooked up, but as long as your careful it works fine. The last thing you want to do is break your "un-obtainium" LC lower control panel. Probably less of an issue in an LJ with the metal control panel.
