Wow this topic has gone outta control! Been on holidays, apologies for not helping out to answer more questions sooner! That's perfect that you've now had a preview of Heathcote Tiny, the run-down you gave everyone is spot on.

Couple of things I will quickly add - when scrutineering, it is an excellent idea and highly preferred by Heathcote officials, if you have a large hoseclamp around your oil filter with the screw part butting up against something such as the block, therefore preventing the filter from ever spinning loose. You wont be prevented from racing without it, but they do prefer it.

Oil, water leaks etc - as Tiny mentioned, they are strict on this. Make sure there are no big leaks, wipe everything down nice and clean and fix any leaks prior to the event.

Food/drinks - canteen on site selling all the usual, will confirm they will definitely be open for us. Of course people are also more than welcome to bring bbq's etc to cook their own food. We always just find it easier to buy lunch there. Probably an excellent idea though to bring an esky full of ice and PLENTY of drinks. I am predicting this day will be real hot. So wearing long sleeve top and pants, and a helmet, and racing (all windows must be fully closed when racing), tends to bring with it lots of sweat and thirst!! Hopefully we just get a nice day around 20 degrees, not 38!

Yes, a passenger pass is $5, purchased at scrutineering. Anyone taking a passenger for a run down the strip, will be forced to do a solo pass. Passengers must also wear long sleeve top, pants, and helmet.

I'm pretty sure spectator prices are $10.

And from memory, our entrant prices will be either $40 or $45, can't remember, will confirm.

If it runs the same as previous days I've been to there - gates will open at 9:30am, with racing starting at 11am, and usually going until approx 4 - 5pm sometime (once again, I will confirm all these times).

Also, Heathcote never used to have any shade anywhere - however I haven't been for a while and I believe they now have some roofing up in certain areas - Tiny how much was there??? If there's not much, I would highly recommend bringing gazebo's along if it's hot.

PS. Is now a good time to mention I may actually be pulling the Chev out of my car in the coming weeks for a rebuild?!!! We did a leakdown test the other week, and it showed up 3 cylinders with quite higher readings than the other 5 (leaking past the rings). I wasn't going to worry about it, but I'd really prefer to re-ring it just in case I have broken part of the rings or something and it's just waiting to let go properly. Plenty of time right ;)

I hope that doesnt mean the Chev wont be at the drag day! Or else!! I got to take my engine out as well and redo all the gaskets to fix the leaks and a oil pressure issue! So i need to get my arse into gear and do that as well!

So far this is sounding great! Id be in for that Motel Tiny! $100 bucks does sound very reasonable for a room! And good to hear it has a pool and barby for us to utilise on Sat night! (any good pubs near by for a drink?)

Chopper: As brett said, we paid a spectator fee ( for simone ) at the gate of $10 per spectator, and then we upgraded simone to a passenger for another $5. We'll have to confrim the exact prices, but for teh drag day i went to THEIR prices were $40 for a driver/entrant and $10 for a spectator and the $5 upgrade to passenger if they wanted.

Issue of shade: Yep there is finally some shade. Theyve installed two L O N G roofed areas in the pits. It is a high metal roof, which is around 4-5M wide, and streteches the length of the staging lane! So there will be shade for us to park our cars under to work on while not racing. I am going to bring two fold out gazebo things, but theyre not much chop if it gets windy! So people are welcome to use these too.

I'm about to try and scan this motel stuff.. and i'm awaiting the photos to be emailed to me so i can post them, but it is a little far from the centre of town but i think there was one pub i remeber not toooo far away. I still reckon that we could get some drinks/meat/etc sit around the BBQ and pool area and generally make a ruccus for the rest of the patrons! hehe If we could get even close to that price ( I reckon even $120 worst case scenario) i'm more than willing to stay there. Its directly opposite the big lake if that helps anyone that knows bendigo! but we have to get in fast to book it!

LXCHEV: I hope that you get the engine sorted quickly mate! Time's coming up fast! But i fully understand youve gotto do what youve gotto do! I hope its nothing serious!!

Stay tuned for the scan!

While on the topic of hotels, the one Deb and I stayed at in Bendigo was called the All Seasons I think. Very nice place with heaps of rooms. Sounds like Tiny is already on a winner, but would still be good to compare both (for prices and rooms available).

The Chev will be there one way or another - it'll either be untouched and race as is, or if I decide to rebuild it before-hand, I will only do that if I'm confident it will be back in the car by end of Feb, I want to be prepared with a couple of weeks to spare.

I also forgot, I may have another mate coming with a 10 second LJ too (by then he'll probably be running 9's!).

$60 for me and the two kids to get inside the gate, no problem. Do they take credit cards there, or cash only?

I normally don't carry cash. It could have been very embarassing for a lot of people if this question wasn't bought up.

Ok I have spoken with the All Seasons Quality Resort in Bendigo; it would have been perfect, they have something like 70 rooms, massive amounts of car parking space (pefect for trailers), bbq areas, restuarant, indoor heated pool etc etc etc, however I think they would be a little bit more pricey than the other place Tiny has found, but anyway, they are already completely booked out for the entire length of March except for a couple of rooms left on the very first weekend. She said it's because of the Commonwealth Games! Yikes! It's probably been booked out for the last year!

Sounds like the place Tiny found is a winner for a few rooms at least. The lady also said if we called Bendigo Tourism they would be able to say which other places still have rooms available.

Gday Brett,

THe lady who runs the Tea House said the same thing.. everywehre's pretty booked and filling fast!

I'm going to give her a call tomorrow and book my room.. do you want me to book yours too?

EVERYONE::: What i'll ask for is for 5 more rooms to be put ON HOLD for us at our agreed rate ( that i'll talk to her about).. for as long as possible. That will give us time to organise others who may want to stay. BUT we CANNOT stop them from selling the rooms if theyre asked as the games are in town and they will be busy!!

People.. MAKE DECISIONS... BOOK NOW! you dont want to be left out!!

As i said, I'll ask if theyre willing to hold a few rooms for us.. but i wont ask them to loose out.. I'll let you know how i go.. but i will be booking there for myself and simmo. I just cant risk not getting a room!

Cheers!

Its on the scanned ic on the last page...!

(03) 5441 7111.

I'll ring them tomorrow morning about 9 Am and discuss it with them, I;'ll tell them i have people that are going to book and could we get side by side rooms. I'll also get a couple of rooms put on hold ( if she'll do that for us) and that'll allow you guys to call them up, tell them your part of our forum, and you can have one of those rooms.

I'll ask for 7 rooms ( other than mine and simmos) and out of that Brett and Stedz has already indicated they'll take one each. SO that leaves 5 more... I'd say start getting in there and booking! I'll organise it tomorrow morning and post here what happens!

Cheers!
Tiny.
