Hi all,

Looking at doing a 202 build in the near future and are just gathering bits.

Currently I have a 202 block with 20tho over pistons.

 - A 161H yella terra with crow rocker rollers

 - A XU-1 Cam
- Triple SUs on some Armours manifolds.

- Dizzy off Blue

- Genie Extractors and 2 1/4 exhaust

Just looking for some insight if this is gonna be streetable, and if it'll happily run off 95/98 as I'm concerned I'll run into an issue with super high compression.

Also if anyone can give me some insight into what to ask the machine shop to do in terms of checking the block and head etc etc.

Any insight and recommendations are greatly appreciated, this is my first ever engine build and being on 22 I didn't really grow up around this era of engine.

Thanks,

AV

If you keep your compression ratio about 10:1 you shouldn't have any troubles. The "XU-1" cam isn't really that big a cam, so will run on 95/98 ok, as long as the timing is adjusted to suit. Are the SU's 1 3/4" or 2"?

Hi Warren,

The SUs are 1 3/4. And I just said it was an XU-1 cam as that's what the guy I bought it off said. Just had a look though and it appears to be a Crow 35666 if that makes any difference.

Cheers,

AV

Get your pistons to zero deck and most importantly have the head cc'd.
If that head has already been shaved a lot, you will have trouble with too much comp.

I'm a R.M.F is right.
The 35666 isn't as big as the showroom xu1 XH cam at 226°
204° In, 214° Exh
Guessing it might be closer to the lc xu1.
(Can't find the actual figures on this - Can anyone fill me in?)

Figure out your compression, and call on the experts as to wether or not
You'll get away with the result with that cam

Thanks, dave

From the gmh bulletin in fiv antonio's book,
What is this smaller one?

in 29/57
exh 64/24
Duration 266°
Lift .345
Overlap 53°

Almost identical, just advanced a bit

That was an error in the valve timing specs published in the June 1970 Service Bulletin H326 for the 'Special Vehicle - Holden Torana LC - GTR XU-1'.
