Does anyone know if the caps and locking arms are interchangeable on all the square cornered big nut master cylinders. I see there is a couple of different caps between the models. Some have two mound top cap (LJ I think). Some have flattish style top cap. (LH I think). cheers Ian.

I thought the bail and lid were the same on all square ended big nut cast iron m/cyl up to the end of 1976.
Might learn something new.

Nope on lids
And they are different shapes
The LC one... is it really LJ as they aren't squared and if so... same as LH
LC is rounder
LH is squarer
Late ones are just plain ugly

I have a round one. The round ones I believe are LC. Square ones LJ onwards. The lids are different on differing square ones. just need to know if the lids and bails fit all the square ones. because i would like to have the LJ one and at present it appears to be an LH/LX. cheere Ian.

The square ones began @ HQ release which is the same time as 173 & Aussie 4-sp release in July 1971 LC.

And yours is a 173 LC isn’t it Albert? But early one. They would have used up the bin before they changed to the HQ type.
Agree Clay, the LC type m/cyl and booster continued in production after HQ release and 173 introduction.

Dave, do you know if you can buy new tops and bails like your M/C. And my car is 02/72, round or square?.

Hi Ian, I believe Neil is correct, the metal caps are NLA. I thought RSP were making reproductions but I can't find any on their website.
Your 2/72 LJ should have this one.

Bugger. if you had to choose, would you go LC round or LH square flat. First World problems I know. But still.....

Well if i had an xu1, then i would fit the correct master cylinder for that car. Forget the aftermarket, just put the word out for an lj 1. Be a little patient.
