I had a look at the clutch relay lever and found that it has been worn significantly.

 

It seems quite a few people have welded the worn bit - does anyone have any experience as to how well this works

The clutch relay bracket and bush assembly - does anyone know where a new or replacement  bush can be purchased

The metal fabrication work on my car is being completed by others - not enough talent unfortunately but it is amazing what some other peope have done on this forum .

 

I will load some pictures as it gets closer to completion of the panel and paintwork

 

i plan to finish it off - with a fair bit of help

I've welded to fill then used grinder and files to get shape and size. Worked fine, some one in the business would do it faster and easier.

Yep ,I welded mine and used a dremmel to clean it up.

They have wave washers too to limit sideways movement,whack on some lithium grease as well.

Has that lot been chrome plated?

 

The rubber bush in the relay lever support bracket is/was not available as a replacement part.

That can be welded. Check the anchor pin on the clutch pedal, it will likely be the same. Mine was half worn through and I welded it up.

Yes it was chrome plated - I am going to get it blasted and painted black - but thought I had better see if new bushes were available anywhere

If I was set on using a rat trap for my car (which I would not be, because I don't like the system very much) then yeah I'd just weld it up and grind it it to shape. Nothing scientific in it... it's just fabricated steel and you're adding more of the same. 

 

With decent lubrication you'll get another decent life out of it, even if you don't get it as nice and true in shape as the original.

can that bit be pressed out ? if it can it would be easy too make one up in a lathe
