Your car, but I'm not a fan. The clips will eventually scratch the glass too.
Not keen on mud flaps either!

Another couple of days fannying about with the car... before it goes to the panel beaters next weekend. I took apart the heater and have recovered all the metal flaps on the inside and given it a good clean and a new lick of paint. The I attacked the front of the car and removed some more paint.

Is that an earlier repair in the nosecone?
Yes, good spotting.. I discovered a patch in the bottom. No rust or anything around it. But I'll still get the panel beater to tidy it up most likely.

Yes they are. I've got a few sets of letters..So I'll just sort out which ones are in the best condition. But I can't remember how they are held in place. Were they a press fit?

They had a small plastic cap that pushed over the pins on the back of the badge. Unicorn wings I'm afraid.

I think the RSP repro's came with a metal type socket which had a larger OD. Might pay to sus that out now before it gets paint.

All my Letters are original ones as are the holes. If I can't buy any new clips I'll just make my own somehow...

Well another couple of jobs done this morning. I have rebuild the heater box, pulled it apart, gave it a good clean, put all new foam on the flaps and she's good to go.
I also painted the driveshaft. The paint came up a lot different to what I thought. But I don't mind, as its months away to being on the road so I have plenty of time to change it.

Well not a lot has been happening on the restoration from. As the car is now in the panels beaters hands....and they do tings when they do things.... Plus, although I want it now, I know there is no great hurry. As I am still waiting on the engine rebuilder, and upholsterer to re-do the seats, and both of them say it will be sometime.
So to keep myself busy I have been refurbishing different bits and pieces. The latest has been the centre console. I have been looking for a correct black one for a while, but have not had any luck. We are not the "land of a million parts" like you guys. So I came across a brown one, that was a bit damaged and missing the insert and the arm rest. So I repaired the damage, gave it a coat of paint and got a new arm rest. I am pretty happy with the outcome. I know it doesn't have the correct lift up lid in front of the shifter, but it will do for now until I come across the correct one.

Rare spares make the front lift up lid. Now is the time to do all the jobs that you don’t want to do. Get the crappy stuff out of the way now whilst the car is away for paint.
I;ll have to do some investigating and comparison. As you'll notice in the front tray of this one is a couple of screw holes, and there is a bit bracing below it.. Now, if I put the lift up lid on this console it doesn't have the same recess/hollow that should be under the lid... if that makes sense.

Ahhh ok. Geee I’ve got a good black armrest sitting in a box somewhere. Hasn’t gone in the bin yet. Might go find it and dump it.

Not that it matters, I'm not sure if any "correct black consoles" exist. Were they all painted in some kind of light colour before being painted black, anyway?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I do not think that a factory black console is showings its factory black masterbatch-tinted raw plastic.
The same cannot be said for a Torana dash, a steering wheel, etc. however.

Generally the LH ones have the lift up lid with recess storage bit below. The LX ones are like the one you have with the ‘tray’ rather than the lid.

Well there has and there hasn't been much progress lately. The car has been at the panel beaters for a month or two, but 99.9% of the metal work is done and next week they will be acid washing it and giving it a coat of epoxy primer. So i brought the doors home yesterday so i could take them back to bare metal just to help speed up the process. And I am pretty happy with them. I found a bit of rust... But it could be....and I've seen a lot worse!
So here are just some shots of the body and doors....

When you see the bodies that some people are working with these days (especially hatches) you are very fortunate to have such a clean example.
