My view on mini hp
65 hp at wheels for a good Cooper S road car
low 90-100 hp at wheels for most Group Nb historic racers ( how they get their HP depends on head cam etc) on NE102 fuel or slightly higher on E85
a very few top few cars just north of the 100 hp figure. and to top off the lot
a standard mini 850 - maybe 29 hp with a 0 - 100kph timed in minutes instead of seconds -----
but all of the above can be a tonne of fun regardless ( and i'll have a drive in the mustang and xu1 as well)

After viewing that, no one should ever complain about an aussie 4 speed shifter.

63 850 shell mate.Looks like an early one. 64ish?
Has all genuine mk2 cooper S gear and looks to have been raced.
I need to strip back layers carefully.
I was told they used to convert the 850s into English cooper S racecars here because they were lighter than the Aussie cooper S (sliding windows etc).
This was my old man's car stored in a shipping container from 2000 ish.
I put it back together to make sure it was all there and ran. Now needs the reverse and paint. Body is amazing with no rust

The owner Richard left it in NZ when he relocated to Aus for Matt Black to race mid 90s to 2000s then when Matt moved to Aus due to Stone Bros racing he asked Richard what he wanted to do so they loaded her up and brought it over. I brought from Richard here.
I bought an XY that was raced in the Repco round Aus in 79 that HDT won in the new VB's. I am restoring that to GTHO with its repco door numbers, motorcraft & ryco sponsors but mainly to have in shed to tip the hat to this on grid formation pic next to Jimmy Richards in 1973. This was the HO that Goss raced 71 / 72. The CK is loitering in the background in both pics. Article on that XY below:
