Hi all, after getting my engine rebuilt I use Penrite 20w 60w ,on initial start up it’s quite noisey sounds like tappet noise ,the noise quiets down as the motor warms eventually. Someone suggested using a thinner oil on a newly built motor .Interested in what others are using thanks Paul.

Penrite do a high zinc, no friction modifier Run in Oil.
Have used it on 2 recent 202 rebuilds.

Don't claim to fully understand it, but engine guy swears by it.

Of course, there's a million other things
Roller cam, solids, hydraulc? Oil pressure?
Is it a lot of tappet noise or does it sound like just one?
If you get it hot then turn it off, then restart does it still do it?
and so on

Machining tolerances on a newly built engine are a lot finer than they were when we all ran 20w50, let alone 20w60. Penrite 15w40 all mineral with zinc something or other.

I run HPR30 in all my cars even my Commodore SSV, which advised to run the Mobil 1, but always had low oil pressure and ticky tappets, HPR30 fixed all issues.
