Hi all,

I've purchased a LH Torana for its HT prefix 308 engine. As it turns out it is a genuine Jade SLR5000 without doubt parked up over 40 years, stripped and not in great shape but is what it is.

Is there a way for us to ID this car through engine #, rego plate and body #?

I can confirm it has its original:

-Engine
-paint jade
-booster & master cylinder
-front/ rear swaybars
-chrome Inc around inner doors
-interior Jade
-manual m21
-misc ID chrome door lock buttons, vinyl tops, factory rear spoiler holes etc

Ladies husband passed away and it ended up sitting in paddock.

Daughters and their boyfrieds pulled the car apart and here we are over the years

Photos to come

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated

I'm not sure what you are asking?

You say 'without a doubt' it's a 5000.

Throw up photos of the tags.

Holden Historical Services should be able to give you written confirmation if that's what you are after.

It is missing tags however is an slr5000.

Is there a way through service records to gather the missing dots

Without tags I doubt HHS will be able to tell you any more than you already know.

Attached is the engine and date details.
I have the former owner digging deep to find the tags as they are possibly amongst some household items moves over the years.

I'm not in the business of passing things of as something they are not.

Owner says it is, car says it is and tags are missing.

I understand the no tag arguments however it is what it is. The difference will be what else can be found with info provided plus the hope of tags being located.

The tags and car is a bonus as I wanted the motor. That said, the motor will save the car due to the fact it belongs to it so a bit of a curse

Yes mate this is the curse bit. If I have enough documentation on the car then it should be saved. To save it is a lot of of hrs and money but it's not a standard SL or alike and to save a SLR5000 still makes finacial sense and enthusiast sense.

She's rough but cam with a second shell that can be cut up to help restore.. its not great either but would help

Yep it's going to be a test mate. Live a challenge though. I think we should be able to narrow a fair bit due to the combo Jade / Jade interior 1899-45X

Late 74 or very early 75 is my guess.

Thanks guys. I'm pretty pumped to save it. It's a sedan version of a hatch restoration;)

Any information to help that outcome would be massively appreciated

Yep, I saw that one on ebay too and am amazed it made it onto a trailer in one piece! As you probably already know it’s going to be a very long road ahead trying to salvage it and I wish you the best of luck :)

Thanks mate. Rears good, front right rail I'd rusted at floor, floors shagged, front screen, cowl etc.

Too big a job for my skills. The second shell will use for half of the cuts needed & rail.

I think if the HT engine was advertised separately it would have sold for more in its own right so I was happy with the purchase

I reckon having Jade on Jade might have been a bit much, but it is a great paint colour though.

Yes I agree. The good thing is I wouldn't think it be hard to find if there was records of builds

I don't think there would be to many with that paint/trim combo...

Keep it original. Helluva project to take on, but I am sure you are up to it. I am interested to know what you paid for the shell. If you do not wish to disclose that I understand. I just like to keep tabs on shell/slr5000/ss prices. You do not often find slr5000 or ss shells available. With a matching numbers engine as well.

Hi mate,

I paid $2800 for the 2 shells and the HT prefix engine which is complete... couldn't believe it really.

I'm only disclosing that price as it was on Ebay. Just a poorly written ad.
If it was SLR5000 with matching # HT 308 and spare shell it would have been a different auction

Well done mate. That is a GREAT deal in my eyes. Given once you rebuild that engine it will be worth a mint in it's own right. Highest value to you of course.
