Can anyone help with what electroplating finish was used on the lc/lj torana door striker plate (the die cast piece).

The body is made from die cast aluminium, I've taken it to a few electroplaters and they are not sure.

I was told it was not chrome by one as it doesn't get into sharp internal corners as the original finish has, zinc is not used on die cast as far as i know leaving maybe nickel finish as this can be plated onto aluminium.

I've plated the outer metal plate and the die cast section now looks pretty average.

If it is die-cast, the metal is most likely Zamac not aluminium.

There are a number of different mixes consisting of Zinc aluminium magnesium and copper. Cheap, terrible, ports and most electroplaters don't want to know about it. It can be chromed as per door handles. That does look like more of a zinc finish though.
