someone once i saw did a clear tail light, and in my opinion looked crap! haha
Wats wrong with the current tailights?
Just paint the surrounds in different colours, black, grey, white, chrome, colour matched, dont mess with the lenses!
Thats just rice!!!!
A tint on the lense might be ok...

best thing to do is see if anyone can photochop for ya (there's a few ppl here that are real good at it) just so you can get a general idea on what it will look like.

If you are going to give it a go, get a spare set of indicators to try it out on, at least then you can always change them back if you don't like the result.

I have often wondered what VB Commonwhore tails
would look like?
Very similar look, but with the reversing clear window.
Just a thought...
I think the original tail looks best.
Oh, I'm a newby, having just bought an original,
numbers matching SS hatch. Rough as... but will
be a great project.
My wife and kinds dont understand....

On the OLD forum back in the day when i had my green 4 door i also wondered what clear rears would look like So i made a pair up just to see what the out come was, LOL They are still sat on the shelf in my shed with a fair bit of dust on them
I made them up in a day and nights but they didnt turn out Perfect as i had to silicone the lense in so close up they sota looked rough
Heres a pic of them in the car, for an exampe
P.S the reflectors had to stay in for them lights to be LEGAL as long as u ran red and orange globes
Cheers

I don't wanna sound overly cautious or anything, but would lights like GreenMachine's actually work very well in bright sun? I'd be a bit worried about them not being as visible as the original lenses... you don't want someone running up the arse of your beautiful showcar just because the custom tail lights aren't as intense.
If I do anything to mine it will be a slight tint in the red area or something like that i think.

Okay, I'm convinced. lolI think they would be fine
Next time I see one of those Lexus 4WDs (I think that's what you're talking about) I'll have a look at how visible the lights are. I remember sitting behind an S15 (or similar) a while back and they had tinted the rear lights to some unbelievable degree, they jumped on the brakes infront of us and they barely lit up at all, that's safe <_<
EDIT: w00t 300 posts, LoL!

I'd just got to thinking about this again (found some of the diffuser plastic lying around...).
If they were totally clear then they'd look shite. Maybe some white of silver inside to reflect the globes would be good.
Grant..
