Must be common to have the bottom of the rear guards to rust out mine was the same on the left hand side.

My advice is to cut it out above the rust and get a piece of scrap metal for example like a old bonnet and cut out a size to fit it and bend and weld it in it is hard work but it pays off. Have fun mate it will look great when you finish it.

This bloke is a plastic surgeon by trade, or so he tells us...

Or as I have said I the past, some of these so-called panel beaters should be called Michelangelo for their sculpting prowess with bog.

I have to stress that there isn't actually particularly much bog on it, I think Matty was just joking. He hasn't seen it in the flesh and you can't see much in that shot I provided... I'll get some better photos. There's nothing over a few mm really, I would say that way more than half of that bog has been sanded off Rob, but I may be wrong.

HAHA yeah i was just joking! Cos its something that Heath would have said if i put a pic of my car with bog on it! haha

I think that if you apply bog and the car looks straight, the paint sticks and you have no hassles then the stuff is bloody fantastic! if its done wrong then it can make big problems!

A door skin was used, took about 3/4 of an hour to weld in :spoton:

Waiting for bog to dry atm *sigh*

Tomorrow I will have a semi professional assistant. :)

Just read through the last couple of pages of this thread, sounds like there's a bit of bog going into this car Heath?

Keep persisting, look forward to seeing some more progress photos.

how did you go about bending it to shape? im still tossing up whether to cut some out of mine or not... only has very slight holes, although its quite thin with the rust from the inside...

more pics heath!! :tease:

how did you go about bending it to shape?

You need a Range Rover tail gate but you might be able to use a Hi-Ace rear floor opening.

40, 80 and 120. Haven't been through that much... you can get rolls of the stuff for $9 at Bunnings and that is more than you should need for any car if you don't spend too long trying to sand into the steel. Have a few increments and at least two blocks/body files so you don't have to swap paper, you just pick up the other tool.

I'll be using finer stuff from now on though. The really course grades are only for things that need a lot of shaping. Using very course paper creates difficulties...

That body file and a smaller block as well

Great to see you doing all the work yourself  The only way to learn is to jump in the deep end and work it out for yourself. Hope to see it at the next gmh-torana.com drag day.

is there a torana under all that bog?

thats a bit of bog!

sounds like there's a bit of bog going into this car

Lol got bog?

Thats some serious bog !!!!

I know that at least Matt didn't have bad intentions but am I supposed to not be offended by this kind of shit?

Is it just me or is everyone speaking to me like I'm doing some #@$^%& up full bogan spec repair job on this car? The filler work I have done on this car covers large areas so it is less likely for little spots to crack off, I beat everything out as best I can before I apply any filler. None of the people who said those quotes have even seen the car in the flesh. None of it is thick or rushed or anything in my opinion to be worse than the execution which would be done by most members of this forum, but the majority of the people here would just send their car off to the 'panel shop' to be straightened out and painted. I am taking my time on this car and working my arse off for hours every day, and you all seem to think that I am just filling the vehicle with bog because i can't get off my arse and do it "properly" or something.

This car needs the repairs to be done with filler, they can't be beaten out and file finished, especially when I don't have a set of dollies, spot welder and oxy. f*ck can you please at least watch what you say? There's no point in me going out of my way to share progress on my car with others if they are just going to insult the best I work I can do.

My car is not full of fvcking bog, it is just applied over large areas so that the panels end up f*cking straight, not just a few patches over the deep dints.

This is something I would NOT do. That was >6mm in the middle and this guard is going in the bin.
