Is it just me or is everyone speaking to me like I'm doing some #@$^%& up full bogan spec repair job on this car? The filler work I have done on this car covers large areas so it is less likely for little spots to crack off, I beat everything out as best I can before I apply any filler. None of the people who said those quotes have even seen the car in the flesh. None of it is thick or rushed or anything in my opinion to be worse than the execution which would be done by most members of this forum, but the majority of the people here would just send their car off to the 'panel shop' to be straightened out and painted. I am taking my time on this car and working my arse off for hours every day, and you all seem to think that I am just filling the vehicle with bog because i can't get off my arse and do it "properly" or something.

This car needs the repairs to be done with filler, they can't be beaten out and file finished, especially when I don't have a set of dollies, spot welder and oxy. f*ck can you please at least watch what you say? There's no point in me going out of my way to share progress on my car with others if they are just going to insult the best I work I can do.

My car is not full of fvcking bog, it is just applied over large areas so that the panels end up f*cking straight, not just a few patches over the deep dints.

This is something I would NOT do. That was >6mm in the middle and this guard is going in the bin.

What alot of people dont seem to think about is that unless you have plenty of experence panel beating and the tools required, or a sh#t load of money for a panel beater to do it without bog than you're going to have some in your car, but really if there is a small amount of it and no thick spots who cares, its a budget build. not like you can see through the paint. It looks to me that you have improved the car by 500% anyway, I mean look at what WAS in your beaver and guard and you know yourself how good the work has been so try not to take other peoples comments harshly, Most of them are proberly joking anyway like your mates would

Keep your chin up mate and keep up the good work :spoton:

Ohhh and he's also obviously capable of doing file finished work at home with a very limiting budget, John. ;)

Thanks evil UC hatch.

Dont worry about them Heath, Only a very experiance panel beater can get a panel perfectly straight with just a hammer and dolly, and most of the time you still need a thin slither of filler to get it spot on...

Like you said not like your just slapping on over 5mm thick chunks of the stuff everywhere, If its dont properly should never be a problem...

Keep up the good work, good to see people tackling it themself and learning along the way

Something else to consider:
Someone else bogged the guard that Heath is rejecting.

Most of the guys making evil comments probably farm there work out.

I've never seen a panel shop that doesnt use bog, theres no way to make money file finishing insurance work, and unless you specify and hang around all the time to watch your job will be bogged up to.

Your alright heath! They will love it when its all on the road! Just because you are the only one showing pictures of every stage of the build, doesnt mean you should be picked on because of the way you are doing it!

I know when i re-do my car in the coming months, i will be using more bog than i used last time....

If the car looks straight, the paint sticks and the bog never cracks! Then there is nothing wrong with the stuff!

Lets not get BOGged down in details...

I don't think I've ever seen a good looking or show finish torana that hadn't used bog. (a simple small magnet can often prove that)
And not many people actually publisize pictures of the development of their cars in the making like this (maybe to give the illusion that they were always 'perfect' ?)

Your doing well Heath, especially for your first real project.
I bet your peers will be jealous when it's all finished.
Take your time.

Cheers,
Rick.

Mate, nothing wrong with job you are doing. We, well, most of us have all been there before. I had a HJ with a massive ding in it once. I bought a big tin of bog and slapped it on like cement !! Reshaped the panel with a grinder and painted straight over with purple paint, no primer and a little bit of sanding.

Then there was the EB Flacon I had. Rust underneath the door and a massive hole that just got bigger the more I poked with me finger. Ended up spraying half a can of Selly's Expandable Foam into the hole. A quick slap of bog and some white paint and hey presto, no more hole !!

Yes I am BOG BOGan but I dont care. The Toranas get a bit more respect and I do the job as good as I can, if that means using a bit of bog so be it. Thats what its made for isnt it? So long as it looks good in the end, who cares....

I wouldnt give a shit what others think man, its your car, your project and its great to see it coming along.

Keep the updates coming. :spoton:

LOL I tend to agree!

Heath suck up the comments and let em ride off your back. It's not like they are gonna change anything you are doing.

Don't worry about the other people as long as you are happy with the job that you are doing it does not matter what other people thing. A lease you know you did the job and it looks better than what my lx torana looked so keep going it looks great.

Looks good Heath. Can't wait to see it painted :D

Heath,
If there was no bog, there wouldn't be a show car industry. I'm sure they didn't mean to offend you.

Keep up the great work!

Brett

Nothing wrong with a bit of filler, least you not squashing up coke cans and stuffing holes with fly screen before you apply it.
Keep up the good work mate. :spoton:

Polo on a BMX Heath? Didnt know they sold Polo sticks in Box Hill? I would have thought baseball bats were the go around your neck of the woods?

Nothing wrong with that repair.
It wasn't the repair, but the shitty steel around it that rusted. :tease:
Making the donor repair panels would have been fun too :spit:

ROFL very good point.

Yeah Big T I play that in the city every sunday I can spare. BMXs are ace for it (that one of mine's a 24" so it's perfect), except I haven't got slicks on it, because then Dirt Jump gets a bit dangerous :P

Best bike-mounted games around Box Hill are joisting (?) competitions with trolley poles on a friday night around 7/11 or Box Hill Gardens. :spoton:
