You would never find me putting that much bog on.

I would definitely be paying someone else to do it :)

Looks alright to me. Unless you're in the trade and have heaps of time and money you will always end up with bog. I had an XE fairmont once. We stripped it back and found every panel but the roof was loaded with bog. We either cut it out or replaced the panel. Even then there were some panels we applied bog to even things up before painting.

Was very straight. On the way home from the panel beaters it hailed golfballs - not kidding. Under insurace all they would allow to be done is to fill it all up with bog again.

Looks great heath.

I'm not worrying about the amount of filler going into the car, because it's jack shit and I know that because I'm not judging it from pictures on the internet. I am just angry that everyone thinks this car is full of bog and everyone will SAY that this car is full of bog when it has jack all.

Yeah I don't want to lose even more faith in the previous owner, so that guard is going probably tomorrow night - I want it outta my house! Makes me cringe to think of the repair job.

haha, mate, you need to build a bridge.

Its the internet, as has been said millions of times, Who gives 2 shits what anyone thinks over the net.

At the end of the day light bog doesnt hurt anything.

I had my car (my orange one anyway) done by a mate who has been in the game for 20 odd years, and he used bog to get panels to perfection. aside from buying brand new panels, the only other method is to lead wipe the small imperfections, which is timely, costly and really a waste when there is such an invention as bog.

I bet half the people who would/have had a dig at the amount of bog (and were serious about it) Havent worked on their own cars, and do not know what went into theirs. i.e their cars probably have bog smeers throughout aswell for final panel prepping. When applied correctly and in moderation (as it appears to have been) there is no drama.

The only thing im thinking you may have a problem with is moisture. Bog doesnt like being left open to the elements for too long, so when you have your bog work sanded back (say you do 1 panel today, get it half right then need to leave it for the night) you should always flick some primer over the top of it just to protect it all.

Good on you for giving it a go, I didnt do my torry, but ive done about 6 commodores now, and another 4 door LJ, bog is your friend.

Are you saying that this wasn't a good repair?

holy crap! i recognize that hand!

..and that VB can. :<_<:
..and the coke can that was just a little bit north of that. :<_<:

that car was mighty crap. had to have had some of the worst rust repairs i have ever seen.
the car is almost finished getting COMPLETLEY redone.
https://cache.gmh-to...3/RdSss/ep5.jpg
i stripped the car to bare metal, it was properly repaired, then every panel but the bonnet and boot were replaced. (10-15grand later.. )

the car is perrrrfect now though... and should be good for another 30years easily :)

Easy does it heath. Most people are just shit stirring you and you're taking it hook, line and sinker. Bog is man's best friend. I think it will turn out fine. Infact I think you have great foresight and patience to take on such a big project. I only wish I had the time to do what you are doing.

Suspension will be lowered but not too stiff or anything, I still want it to be a comfortable cruiser, but I'm not too concerned about getting the rear end to hook up :stirpot:

Arches will be pumped a little bit hopefully (shortly), I will keep you posted on whether that is still happening...

Wheels are fat chromed stockies wrapped in Eagers.

Motor will be the 202 that is in the car atm, but I'm collecting parts for it to be a bit hotter... cam, head that needs some work, Redline Roadmaster V2 manifold, Weber that I am going to replace with a bigger Weber, Double Valve Springs, Full exhaust etc... that's all lying around the house but it will all be upgraded in a few yrs when I build a more serious 202 from a HP block I've got in the shed.

MC6 and Banjo will do for the time being, but I'm getting an R31 diff shortly which I plan to get made to suit the LX and run a 3.45 LSD 28 spline jobbie in, and a Falcon 6cyl Tremec T5 would be an ideal gearbox to match that diff later on down the track... that will be matched to the hotter motor though, not the crappy cheap 202.

And yes I haven't been doing updates because the stuff I am doing is boring as batshit. It doesn't look like I'm doing anything in photos :P

But I will get more shots, thanks for the encouragement guys. I'm gonna have brekkie and get to work

good work heath. The cars come a long way since you first started hacking away at it hasn't it.

shame about the carport ey? I'm in the same boat...provides next to no protection from the elements when you wanna work on your car

Keep it up man - school holidays ftw :spoton:

ARGH STUPID F*CKING WEATHER

I am so behind schedule, I have no idea when it is going to be ready but I have gotta work my arse off asap.

Welded up all the holes in that SS guard the other day, will post pics tomorrow. Hung all the LHS panels and am working on getting them in the ballpark for lining up with each other but i think that side isn't gonna be the car's best one :P

Getting easily distracted and starting to lose motivation, the car isn't going to be perfect, it's just going to be DRIVEN!!! lol
