I've got a few jobs on the go at the moment and I don't get paid to do the Torana so it has been neglected. In a few days I should be able to do a small update

We all know that feeling dude! Just keep ya chin up & you will get around to it! I was planning on having time to work on either my Torry or my Pano this holidays season, but a few things got in the way, namely 2 fords. My g/f blew her TX5 Turbo up, so her bro, dad & i rebuilt the running gear, and i've had to do some small shitty things on my EB.

I do have a few small bits on the way for the pano & torry, so maybe when they arrive i'll be motorvated to work on them again. :tease:

Cheers & happy new year everyone!

hehe this is the only thread you post in isn't it?

I just changed the engine mounts today because the old ones were a big shagged I think. Replacements were free so I'm happy. They look alright to me

The ~1hr job ended up being about three and a half hours because someone in the past had done a shithouse job of using incorrect washers on one of the smaller nuts, so the nut kinda pulled itself into a concave area where I had bugger all access to it. Because I already put my extractors in, I couldn't get to the back of the bolt (well, not enough to move it lol) so I had to use the grinder. What a pain in the arse, but it's done now. Sure everyone found that a rivetting read

Hey Heath,

Yeah, other than cruzin the forum a little from time to time, this is about the only thread i've been posting in. There hasn't been enough progress on my torry to post to my thread, yet. It's coming, just need to get a few other little things done.....

Engine mounts for a torry are pretty cheap new arn't they? I know mine are shagged, another item i need to hoard before the project can be completed.

A 1hr job never ( i find ) ends up being a 1hr job. It always blows out to at least 2x, sometimes more. Eg, trailing arm bushes for the EB, should have been a 1.5Hr job. I got the wrong parts delivered, labeled as correct parts. :banghead: So i've blown about 2.5hrs on the job, and only recently got the correct bushes to fit. A waste of $120 bucks, trade price bushes, and a waste of a lot of time. :furious: Going to fit them today. Then maybe i can do some of these :burnout: without too much axle tramp.

Cheers

ToranaGuy

lol kinda shit repairs just so I had some paint on there, those photos were taken a few days ago I've done a bit more
Today the car got an exhaust that ends just before the diff, which is a big step up from open pipes hehe. Warmed it up for the first time since I changed the manifold gasket and did some adjustments. Seems to be running beautifullly. Took it for a little spin and I'm really happy with it atm

I've picked up a new windscreen which I will be fitting shortly if all goes to plan. I changed my wheels over to a skinny set that will give me no problems for RWC. I've still got a lot of little things to do but progress is progress

Hey Heath, going along nicely. I now understand your frustration with lack of tools and time etc etc. :P

All the fun of owning a car. I should pop in and have a squiz at your progress. And you should pop in and come have a look at my Torana :P

Thanks for your advice yesterday. Helped me shitloads and I got the job done an hour after the call.

Am I the only one that loves to see paint layed down after prepping shit for so long?

Anyways, Keep it up mate!

Had a day off today so had some time for a tinker.

This is just the exhaust that I installed on Sunday. It's a modified system from another vehicle (fitted it better to floorpan, with flanges and rigid pipe joins instead of the old slip joints). Thanks for the help with this one rodomo

Just cut out an exhaust gasket flange out of some (braided?) gasket paper. I don't know what you call it but it has the peforated metal sheet half way through. And bought some new bolts because I don't want to be awkwardly working with 30 year old threads on the underside of my car

I have a taller battery in my car out of a 4WD (massive cranking amps) but the standard Torana clamp would not reach the top hehe. Put this together and it solved the problem beautifully

Did some other little things as well. The list seems to be expanding faster than I'm eliminating components of it though haha. I'm remembering shit that I said I would do and realising that other things should really be done.

Not gonna be free for a few more days but there should be updates not too far away

Gotta love a bolted together exhaust, it makes life soooo much easier if you ever have to remove it.
Car looks great. Is there going to be any blackouts at the rear ?
