Okay I bit the bullet and bought some new headlights. They are flat and ugly but they were only $70; half the price of "a H4 conversion". I just don't know how to put them in yet. They are 100W/55W jobs so I will need to put a relay in and shit. God I wish I knew what I was looking at with electronics. *sigh*

Not much too it once you get into it.
Standard 4 or 5 pin relay, Best to run 2 relays, 1 for high beam and 1 for low beam
85 - To earth
86 - Switch Wire (from headlight switch)
87 - To Headlights themselves
30 - Fused battery +ve (from the starter or alternator) something with a good supply
If using a 5 pin relay it will have 87 and 87a, so 87 can go to one headlight and 87a to the other.
Working out what size fuse to run is pretty basic,
If your running 100w high beams, thats a total of 200w, divide that by 12v, and you get 16.6 amps, So a 20 amp fuse should do the trick.
If your running 55w low beams, thats a total of 110w, divide that by 12v, and you get 9.1 amps, So a 10 amp fuse should do the trick.
Someone will help out if I've pointed you in the wrong direction, lol, it's been a little while since i've mucked around with them.
Cheers, hope this helps

You can get 5 pin relays with twin 87 terminals.
twin 87's are in open/close relay, basicly it switches open/close bewteen 30 and both 87's
87/87a are switch relays, there is always a close circut, the relay simpley switches it from 87a to 87.

Two five pin relays, one for intermediate, one for high beam, 20A and 10A fuse. All in. I had some help setting it up, only 'finished' it today (couldn't get it to switch onto high beam, but i thought okay i can drive on intermediates). Got to the roadworthy inspection and the tester switched it onto high beam (i told him i didn't think it would work), lol it switched but wouldn't switch back. I don't know what is going on YET
Cut up and old loom I had and spliced everything into that. Cut the 3-pin connector things down to the bare minimum. My engine bay is a wiring nightmare though :(
He said I should go through and replace all the bushes, which I intend to do in the near future. But he said he'll let me through if I just change the trailing arm bushes, because in their state, they are the only thing that he considered to be a safety issue, so I'll get onto that ASAP.

Ahh just get surfmaster to show me how it's done. He seems to feel confident bagging other people's abilities, so I'm sure he would be more than willing to pass on some of his devine knowledge.
you'd want to have some substance to that insult.
