Well yeah that's true but there are some bloody neat street cars around too lol.

I found out my gas installer is booked out for another two months (roughly - gonna try and squeeze me in a bit early lol) so I thought I may as well try and get the fuel system working a bit better in the meantime

Picked up the right sized carb for my motor and just rebuilt it. My carb leaks a little fuel and has lots of play in the throttle plate shaft; idles in two spots etc, pain in the arse. This was free (of course) and I had a few spare parts left over from other kits.

Quote from Heath

Everyone seems to bag the shit out of them, with no experience. The only person on this forum I've heard sticking up for them is Keithy with the blue UC who ran pretty quick times with one (original box for the car) behind his six. My box is very second hand but it is still FANTASTIC to drive, even with stuffed synchros... just gotta use your pedals properly and it's sweet

I'm with you on that one Heath! When I recently sold the now blue (previously brown) Sunbird, it left my posession with the worked 179 and that very original torquemaster (circa 400 000kms old without a rebuild). I went and saw old mate a week ago, he's since blown the diff that was in it, done an axle in the second diff I gave him, had the head off twice too! Main thing is that the Torquemaster still lives!

I think you'll find that reverse will be the first to give you trouble, just put it into first pre-reverse and you should be right! Bloody poetry!

Cheers mate, and your beast is coming along awesome too! Twin thumbs-up to ya mate!

Keithy

Anthony from A&M Automotive in Knox. He openly admits he is 'not the cheapest by a long way' but he does fantastic work and is great to deal with.

In the past, he has done a lot of really good 'custom' work, and that's where he's built up his reputation, but recently he has just been flat-out with liquid injection setups (i think nearly all on falcon sixes), and he seems to be getting more and more business (more than he wants lol). Hopefully that will slow down a bit and he will be doing more interesting stuff again :P

Jeeze i havnt made a comment for two pages.

Manifold isnt good enough, re polish it.

Prime the whole car, i to heard all the panels from the a pillars back are plotting revenge.

Is that a 76mm stromberg??

Did you measure the manifold my way???

You may have to use three fingers....But two usually does for me.

Now that the gearbox is all back in and fixed you should do a burnout to settle everything in.

cheers.

lol yeah DJ I measured it up it seems good. Pic here

Actually the car has done some quite respectable burnouts... I'm suprised by how well it can twin them up etc even in the dry, but you can't throw it into a donut or anything :( I'll try and go to an industrial estate with some friends some time and get some pics or a video

Speaking of matte black front ends... Brad1979UC, Rzeractor and myself went on a VCC cruise (commodorenats) for a laugh about a month ago, and there was a VB commodore with the front in matte black. Not because he'd smashed it and found replacement panels, but because he was half way through a paintjob LOL the rest of the panels were a respectable, but a little tired, original metallic blue. Poor car... owned by some scumbags with a welded diff, HQ stockies on the back and the rear springs removed from the car; rolling around in the boot. Needless to say it got defected hardcore, unregistered too.

...But with some fresh plates from the Nissan dealer across the road, it drove home a new BF XR6T!

LOL BRAD

Carmelo, I am highly offended that you asked that. How dare you. lol. Fatties are 225 SF-340 Eagers but atm the car just looks like this. 3.55 open FS rear end.

Doogs yeah mate it is driving okay but not tops. Actually quite good on fuel with the way I've been driving recently.

Gonna try and file the #1 extractor flange at an angle so that it gets clamped and to seal when I change the manifold... that should make it a bit nicer lol I hate exhaust leaks. And I have a bit of a bearing noise I think? Could be alternator or water pump or something else I really have no idea I just hope it's one of the ancilliaries. I'm gonna change the alternator with another one I've done up as well.

Dont you need another 2 of those carbies?

Id like to see the evidence of this car doing a proper burnout.
