howdy Heath
were those two small chrome trims useable or was the chrome stuffed?

I shouldn't have wrapped them up by the sound of it!

lol yeah I haven't put those chrome trims on as some of the chrome came off, but I do intend to fix them when I fix the tail lights on the racecar, gonna trial some epoxy stuff with a mate who's used it before with success, and hopefully I'll get them both looking pretty nice. Then a squirt of silver and lots of clear and see how it comes up. If that doesn't work, I'll try other stuff. I do intend to put them on but I think it will take some screwing around so watch this space hehehe

Cheers mate!

Ohh yeah and just because:

Yeah, must say hats off to heath being the only Forum member to take his car along to motorvate melbourne! His car looked great and didn't look all that out of place among some of victoria's toughest cars!

Yes the car does look nice, well done.
I have a mate fixing up an SS the same colour
and it looks great in the flesh.
I came across two more moulds Heath but I noticed
someone had a wanted out the other day.I will give you first go if you
can use them.
Chrome is not 100%
a bit faded.
Cheers

Brian mate don't stress about it, I'll use what I have and I should be able to can get them looking nice. You give your other pair to someone else who needs them :)

Thanks for the positive feedback guys, and cheers for the link Matt. I think I spotted lurkin308's vehicle there too? But I wasn't sure - didn't really recognize it in new purple paint? Either way it was a pretty pathetic turnout from this forum considering how many good cars we have on here locally. I think everyone should be going out of their way to support our community, regardless of whether we directly agree with the proposed plans.

Don't think so mate. I can get access to a chassis dyno at TAFE where I can actually do tuning over a decent period of time, not just a few power runs! I'm kinda trying to save money atm too, and if I do that I will more inclined to improve the figure for next year.

I do want to have it at the DECA day... but can't commit to anything yet. And I need to put a new diff in it desperately! Will see how things pan out I guess

Loving those pics from Motorvate Melbourne Heath, and good on ya for taking the car along and rep-re-sentin' the Torana forums!

I think you should run her up on the dyno anyway - it's a fun day for shits and giggles, and will give you a base reading, so any future mods can be compared to it! Go on mate, you know you want to! Then you can add a pretty dyno graph to your photo album :)

Good news is that my new diff for this car just arrived about an hour ago!

Diff is all stripped down now. Might prep it for a lick of paint tomorrow, absolutely covered in road grime obviously.

Ohh yeah and I cleaned up this crossmember, might put together a fresh front end for this car if I get bored and feel rich. It seems to behave fine on the road even when pushed hard, but the bushes don't look great and I have nothing to compare it to :P

Nice work on the diff man, what's it's specs?

I've ended up keeping the fine spline banjo for my torry, it will live for a little while.

Cheers

Ahh nothing special at all, just a course spline 3.36 that i will convert to fine spline. Will have some things done here and there but basically it will just be a freshly built, painted Banjo, unlike the rusty, greasy, whining, loose as a hooker 3.08 diff I have in my car at the moment.

I'm planning on making a poor man's LSD for it too, but that might not happen immediately. Need to get something sorted for the drag day!

Cool man, did you end up getting some fine spline axle's & a center yet? My fine spline is only 3.08 as you know, I'd rather a 3.36 but considering funds are just not available, i'll throw a new set of bearings into my 3.08 and make do until it either breaks or i've done enough other work to warrant a borg warner conversion. :D

Cheers
