hehe I had a bloody hilarious conversation with bigmac123 about working on the car during my week of illness. The photos are on the computer, I just haven't resized them yet. I'll see how I feel after Solar Car tomorrow evening.

If you have got any progress done, it may be more than i've done on my torana recently. I've been too busy with everything else i've gotta work on, the poor torry is sitting in the shed crying out to be loved & worked on.

Soon enough i'll have enough other things done i can get back into the torana. Got a new job now so may have some $$ to spend on torana bits soon as well. Which is always good. I've got a swag of bits for the interia that i just need to strip off another torry, and even a H4 headlight conversion as well.

Comeon' Heath, post up them pics!

Cheers

hehehe I wanna see how the beast is coming along. Still turbo Gas? I think you said otherwise but my memory is awful for a 16 year old and I can't be buggered looking through old posts to check.

That could be a possibility, when i get the engine running. Got all the ignition bits. Just need to tart it up a bit and fit into the bay. Then hookup the new converter & tune it to run.

Yep, it's been a while since we worked in that hell hole hey @milco@! Telstra are doing a dodo now, read the news.com.au site about it. ROFL!

Heath, still going with Gas Turbo. Spent too much on it to back out of it now. I did have a thread before the forums went down. Never had the time to start another one. No i still don't now!

Cheers

Heath,
Don't post pics of how we worked out how to get the lower quarter rust repair perfect.
It is in the hands of the patents office. :spoton:

As you fellow Melbournians would know, today was f*cken miserable as, but I was determined to finish all the welding, and apart from me not having a passenger front door, that was achieved.

This guard was out in the rain for like four months; no shit. The many members who visit my house frequently can confirm that hehehe. Rust converter is a brilliant product.

I'm committed now!

Thankyou once again to rodomo who has been an endless source of knowledge and assistance with this build, and he only ate like... ONE sandwitch. Unreal; all the more for me to pig out on. Really appreciate it Rob, thanks mate!!!

Long story short: the only welding I have to do now is the engine bay and I won't touch it for a year or so probably (not until hot motor goes in). And when I find a new passenger side front door I will weld up the lock barrel on that as well.

Now it's time for lots more grinding, panel beating and trial fitting shit. Gonna go and buy 4kg of bog when I find some cash, along with some primer and Mint Julip 2k to at least do my doorjams. Meee is broke currently.

Anyway I'm gonna start straightening the car out from the back forwards. We actually got through a lot more welding than I photographed today; I might get some more shots tomorrow. But it's all done and finished now. I'm so happy!

Thanks for all the advice guys, it's really gonna start moving along now.

If the weather in the morning is shithouse I think I might get some power happening in the shed and move the panels down there. That way they can be out of the moisture and I can take a heater down too :P

Still don't know heaps about bog so if anyone wants to come and assist me they're more than welcome.

lol I only picked up the MIG a handful of times today to fill in some badge holes, mirror holes and a few little seams, most of that stuff is actually Rob's welding.

I'll grab some shots of a repair I did a few weeks ago though.

As my driver's door on the car was farked, and Milco kindly donated some doors from a car that he wrecked, I thought I'd fix one of them up. It was a bit rough... not too much rust but a few dints, un-necessary holes from a collection of tacky mirrors that had been bolted on over the years, and had developed extensive fatigue cracks in the frame-hinge area.

Nice jeans:

Cut through the cracks with thin angle grinding disc to make some room to panel beat and then weld up:

And all fixed; no bog & structual integrity in tact :D

So yeah Rob is obviously a much better welder than me but I think I did an alright job with this repair.

Heath,

What remote lock release mechanism are you going to use on the boot? I have done the same with my hatch but have not got around to working out how I will open it.

boot is easy you can use the same actuator you use on the doors, but a easyer option would be the same actuator they use on a VK boot

Looking the goods Heath. Your welding is pretty good too, better than mine by far.

As milco said the commy actuator is the easiest to use.

Any other parts you need?
