Hi All

I have taken off the water pump fan and pulley on my LC to give them a paint. I have read before in the Forum that a bloke who worked at the Holden factory advised that 2 bolts were painted black for initial painting and then later, when installed on the motor, Holden fitted 2 unpainted bolts.

I can't find the post. If this is the case, I may as well paint 2 bolts black to keep it original.

What are your thoughts?

Not quite. He was talking about an earlier engine (EH/HD 179) where the water pump pulley was painted red along with the rest of the engine.

 

If your pulley is black, it was painted before fitting to the engine, then this won't apply & the bolts will be a natural (plated) finish.
