Hi All,

Wondering whether the holden 6 sandwich plate is used when fitting a CRS rod shop bellhousing.

 

Asked the question to them & said it should be removed??

 

Done a mock bolt up yesterday without the plate, it leaves large openings at the top on both sides of where the engine & bellhousing meet, usually closed off by the plate.

 

Says to me that it should be left in place.

 

Any help appreciated.

I don't know of any Holden 6 bellhousing which excludes the sandwich plate. As you've pointed out, it's there for a reason.

Did you try mocking it up with it in there?

I reckon the guy from CRS might be thinking of some other plate??

Didnt use the word sandwich, did say thin spacer between bell & engine.

 

Also would think its needed for correct starter spacing?

 

The CRS bell looks no different std ,in relation to how it connects to engine.

 

The sandwich plate would just move everything to the rear a couple of mm, and cover all the gaps.

 

Ill contact them again tomoz, but looks like the plate has to be there.

The sandwich plate also locates the starter motor.

Yep Mistake, plate has to stay!
