When Summernats goes all ev it will be more family friendly

Google EV battery failure and see what videos you find. Might add a good element to the burnout displays!

tick tick tick...hear that clock ticking?

Just heard the interview with the top traffic cop in the ACT , not happy Jan.

Went as far as saying they should do an IQ test on those from interstate before allowing them in ( must be no dickheads in the ACT? ).

Not sure how long the dollars the event brings in,will overcome the angst it seems to create.

Having said that, the other side of the coin, could be that at least the dickheads are all in one place at one time.

Another case of the majority of good people being tarred with the minority dickhead brush...and a good event may end up being canned, sad.

Haho yeah, batteries smoking up instead of tyres
Imagine the silence of the cars cruising around
It’s an environmentally friendly comedy goldmine
Be like a day out at the golf

Make it a dry event?  We went in 94/95 while it was still over New Years and the booze was the element that spoiled it. The following year was the riots, nearly got banned then too. Year we were there the police turned a blind eye to the street racing down Northborne Ave…until about 2.30am. Blip of the sirens of a couple of cars and a gentle talking to to the crowd and everyone went home.  They were legit entrants cars racing, not local yobs in $3000 dunnydoors. Not condoning that behaviour by any means, but it was different. The super cruise was different too…one lane of cars, spectators on the road, it was more like cruising inside Natex than the current cruise which seems much better organised.

Such doom and gloom gentlemen….

Fear not, things will go on 😃

People get turfed out cause they cock it up for themselves. Try to argue the toss and you get the stick….as you should.

Here is some calming white noise.

Attached File  IMG_2129.jpeg   125.86K   6 downloads

Speaking of noise, this was lurking in the top 60 hall next to the eventual grand champion charger.

Attached File  IMG_1983.jpeg   149.8K   7 downloads

They did a startup for the fans.

Attached File  IMG_2110.jpeg   125.07K   7 downloads

Most other years this would have been the big show in town. Bloody noisy TF car stealing its glory 😂

It did however do something the carrot car didnt.

Attached File  IMG_3909.jpeg   87.56K   6 downloads

I had memories of Victor Bray in black Bess flooding back. Happy times.

I am late with the posts this year cos the event is so big and energetic there is no spare time. Barely had a look through the vendor hall and minimal time in the dyno shed.

Attached File  IMG_2065.jpeg   183.91K   7 downloads

Saw this loser getting tossed after a mushroom cloud sized burnout on the cruise circuit.

The cops snipped off his entrant band and then did the same to all of his mates in the car. Islander boys gleefully de stickered the car and it was booted out the gates.

Attached File  IMG_2066.jpeg   146.18K   8 downloads

The coppers must have told him they were going to defect the bejesus out of his car and fine him broke as he sat there for ages waiting for a tow.

No loss.

Great write up and coverage Rexy! Love your work mate.

I was also there, it was easy to steer clear of the chaos and enjoy the event for what it is! It would be nice if all the feral blow-ins who are just their to get drunk and cause trouble would bugger off. I love watching and hearing the cool cars cruise the track all day, it's like a rolling car show. I don't need to see them drop huge burnouts, a nice little stab of the throttle is enough for me!

I really enjoyed the Braddon Street Festival, the morons didn't seem to be there. It was absolutely packed, but full of people just enjoying life and looking at cool cars!

Let's hope they can work out a way to remove the dickheads from the event and turn it back into a show for the enthusiasts.

Its fully family friendly.

There’s even things to keep miscreant youth entertained.

Good responsible parenting with the ear protection and the alcohol out the TF exhaust will keep them virus free for at least a month.

And if you play up Svetlana will deal with you….

Nice to see a few traditional builds in attendance.

This ones a classic BBC glide combo. Sounded fab on the dyno.

Tuff street was good for some time out.

Attached File  IMG_1928.jpeg   53.03K   5 downloads

But then the security felt having holes in the fence was some sort of threat.

Not sure that it was necessary to shut it down for an hour to replace all the slightly NQR bits.
