Which T5 do you use? I have seen a fair few XF Falcon boxes around cheap. They should handle a 186 without drama. Not sure if they fit an LJ though.

It’ll depend on where Darren wants his shifter to end up - and if he’s concerned about cutting the floor.
The T5 has a number of different input shaft lengths, and rear extension housings, and shifters!
From Nemo355 on here,
Holden V8 T5= 200mm
Holden V6 T5= 240mm
Ford 6 Cyl T5= 165 mm.
Rear extension housings range from Holdens at the very rear like the Camaro one below, to Chev C10 all the way at the front, like the S10 below…and a bunch of variations in between. Mine is an in between, machined by Mal Wood, takes a standard T350 type engine mount and lines up with standard CRS chassis kit crossmember. No cutting, welding grinding. However, it’s V8.
For mine, Holden V8 T5 using standard bell housing to 304, modified mid shift rear extension and forward shifter lines up with the original hole in the floor of my LJ. For a Holden 6, I would expect you’ll need a special bellhousing to suit the box to the block, I’d guess, that uses a Ford input shaft. That will determine part of the conversion, then which rear extension? And then if necessary, the shifter unit can be purchased to move back, center or forwards over about 30mm too. Hence, my suggestion of Mal Wood. There are probably others out there but Mal will have done this dozens of times and can supply everything to bolt it straight in.
I tried to do it cheap, was impatient waiting for Mal to get back to me, and I reckon I am at least $2-3k worse off than had I bought the lot from Mal in the first place. I’ve got no association with him other than this one conversion, but aside from being slow to respond because he is so busy, can’t fault his help, knowledge, advice or parts.
There are some good threads on here about T5 conversions, well worth a search, even though some are quite old…T5’s have been around a while and been used in everything!
Hope that helps a bit!
