Now this may seem like a stupid question but.......

You can buy XU-1 petrol tanks new, why not standard 10-gallon flat top fuel tanks? Not everybody wants the larger tank especially if your restoring a standard model.

Mine is rusted out on the top as most are, my other option is cut the top off and make a new top and weld it back together.

Does anyone know if someone out there is making new standard tanks?

They don’t make new standard fuel tanks only xu1 big
Tank. If they did make the standard tank would sell like hot cakes. Many gtr owners chasing them as most are rusted and dinted.

Problem is they seem to think everyone wants an XU1 fuel tank.

Hi Martin. I had my LX tank repaired by a radiator shop. Guy was super helpful and into classics.  He split it at the seam, cleaned and got the dents out then re-brazed it and pressure tested it.  I'm sure he could have been able to do some patch work if needed.  Just a thought. Cheers Ron

Hi Ron, thanks for that, hadn't thought of asking a radiator guy, they are very used to playing around with thin metals.

Anyone knows who actually makes the XU-1 tanks? I might make it my little crusade to try and talk them into making standard ones!
