Hi Guys,

I have installed a Rare spare boot seal rubber for the hatch. When you close the door it bows in the middle.

Has anyone had the same experience? Should I find another brand ? What do you guys recommend?

Cheers.

Joe

Hi Joe. The repro seals are all very stiff and make it difficult to close the hatch. I tried a Rares one first off and couldn't even get the hatch closed. I ended up with one supplied by Mick (forum member) from Torana Restoration and Parts. It was still stiff to close but didn't have to slam the crap out of it.  Cheers Ron

Try muscle car parts the ones they have currently the rubber is pretty soft and doesn’t push the hatch up

Additionally, you can cut part of the profile of the rubber away that sits in the channel so that is sits deeper into the car, that may be helpful for doing fine adjustments. I certainly played with that a lot with my fibreglass hatch lid.

I used a Torana RP&A one, but apparently he isn't selling them any more.
