Off Topic. I have noticed some LC S models, and some LC GTR models (as above) have the 2 chrome lines on the lens, and some don't. I have Looked at heaps of photos and they all differ.

I thought the chrome lines were for GTR's but many GTR's don't have the chrome lines. Also, some have the background painted black and some silver. Again, can't find a common pattern. They all differ and have different combinations.

Cheers

John

Also Front indicator lens are Clear or Amber. Did certain colors come out on specific LC models or is it personal preference?

I understand all LC GTRs had the lines.
Clear >> Amber fronts were due to an ARD change. i e before the change they were supplied clear/ white and after, Orange.

Don't have the LC any longer mate.
Thinking they were the typical rounded head, phillip's head self tapper, but no point on the threaded end, more of a snub nose??

Screws could be SP1801. If you can tell me where the quarter lamps are in the parts catalogue I can look up the screw specs in the HQ book.

With over 50+ years of ownership most Toranas have had things changed, due to either smash repairs or owner modification, so most of the cars you see today have been altered.

AFAIK when they left the factory gate, there were only 2 versions of LC tail-light. GTR (Incl. XU1) & SL got black infilled surrounds & chrome lines across the lens face while Torana S & base 4-cyl models got silver surrounds & plain lenses.

The screws for the rear side blinker repeaters are self-tappers.

As per my post above, if someone want to look through the LC Parts catalogue and tell me where the quarter lamps are as in what GROUP, I'll get you the screw specs. Then you can buy them for 5c each from a bolt/nut/screw shop.

Thanks Col. Do you know when the date the ADR change happened? My LC is 8/1971 with clear lenses.

The ADR for orange front blinkers wasn't officially introduced until 1/73, but they were in production in 10-11/72, which is mid-LJ, so all LC got white/clear front blinkers.

OK, SP1801 is:

Screw - Sheet Metal Pan Head. Imperial No.10 - 16tpi x 1.125" cr. rec (I think cr. rec. means cross recessed which is the pan philips head).

Seems awful long to me though, as we sure this is the screw?

Lamp Assy - Rear side (amber lens) is listed in Group 2.679 in the LC Parts catalogue but no attaching screw part numbers are listed.

Will require a bit more work. Would simply be a matter of getting an original and going to a screw shop and seeing if they were no.8 or no.10 and buying in the right thread and right length.

HQ doesn't list a screw for the same spot but HJ does - 9414724, Pan Head, No.10 =- 16 x 3/4. There is the answer I think.

I suspect you are correct. Looking at some pics of those LC side indicators for sale on ebay, they look like they need a 10g x 3/4" (or thereabouts) Philips pan head self tapping screw.
