Hi, considering one of these purely to get custom V8 header clearance.

Trying to get twin 2.25" pipes past the steering and commodore pull cable clutch setup and over the original swaybar.

Original swaybar gone would make it way easier.

Will the new front mount swaybar be clear of 225 tyres on full lock? (unflared)

Or should I battle it and risk header clearance issues?

Tyre clearance should not be and issue however you should be able to check based on the photos.

Clearance for thermo fans could also be an issue.

In my opinion the K-Mac is a better design however their powder coating used to be terrible and their quality control was non-existent.

I would stick to the rear mount if possible.

That pipe size suggests you are building a straight line monster?

Could be talking about 2.25" main exhaust pipe rather than headers? Have this setup with shorty headers on the sedan and plenty of room to the factory 22mm bar. If you're happy with it (not sure if there are any upgrades available?) then there are options to drop the mounts slightly and/or bend the bar for clearance where needed, if you don't need much.

 

I have Whiteline bar on the hatch, it has had a light touch from a tyre at some point but pretty sure that was due to it being mounted off centre initially as it was one side only and hasn't happened recently. I have 255/40 front tyres with full lock.

Hi Glen. I am running a Whiteline front mounted front swaybar to clear rear area from sump, extractors, 2.5inch system etc. It is a bit of a cumbersome piece of kit and, given the way I drive, I doubt I would notice the difference lol. I also have twin thermo fans, 17inch wheels and Hoppers front brakes and haven't had a problem. I did swap out the old rag steering uni for a Borgeson one which gave me better clearance for the headers, You can see in the pic that they do standout. I have since repainted it black which helps and was considering putting on a front spoiler but will leave as is for now.  Cheers Ron

Yes trying to fit 2.25" secondary tri-y headers, so 2 pipes each side (custom job) for a pretty stout 355 that flatlined on the dyno because the pipes were too small.

Probably just make the headers and then worry about fitting/modding a swaybar to suit later if I decide I need one.

These cars are a hell of a lot nicer with a fair bit of front ARB. 

 

I would absolutely recommend a big bar for a street car unless you seriously only want to drive in a straight line.
