I am getting some chroming done and was going to get window winders done as well _ has anyone pulled these apart - it appears if you drill out the rivet at the back it will come apart - I dont want to break them though

Thanks

That rivet is not actually a rivet. It is the end of the spindle that the knob is moulded onto. If you drill it out you will never successfully re-attach it again.

If you want nice new ones just take pot luck on some repro units or if you are lucky enough to find some decent S/H OEM or NOS OEM winder handles.

Cheers Dave - was thinking of looking at rares replacements as an option

I’d search around for decent winders ,can’t be that hard to find good originals, shouldnt be that hard as they are shared with other Holden models .

Just get new ones, when they chrome them stripping the old chrome off destroys the teeth and they end up fitting loose and sometimes don't engage properly.
