It’s more tyres than rim width. I used to run 14x7 front and 14x8 rear on my LX hatchback. Front tyres were 245/50/14 and rears 265/50/14. Wheel arch lips were folded front and cut on the rear. Suspension was pretty much stock height, maybe lowered 3/4”. Rear tyres just fitted, would sometimes scrub on shock towers under hard cornering, was pretty good on quarters, just enough clearance. Fronts needed the firewall lip flattened, rims just cleared the tie rods (UC steering arms, HK-WB stubs, UC UCA’s). Tyres sat nice just inside the guards. Scrubbed on full lock on front spoiler when fitted.
Diff was a standard A9X diff.
Front wheels were HJ Polycast, can get you backspace if you need it.
Hopeful that helps you. If you are getting 15” made they might have extra clearance from the tie rods? Might be worth looking at aftermarket Pontiac RallyeII rims, will be cheaper than getting wheels made, problem might be backspace for the fronts though as I don’t think what is off the shelf in 15x7 is enough for the front.

Note, I ended up buying these for my HK GTS as they have a more suitable backspace than the RallyeII (which is what Holden HQ to mid HZ Rally wheels are). They look the same from a distance. For example the 8” have a 4.5” backspace (0 offset) whereas the RallyeII are 4” backspace (-1” offset). Rare Spares repro HQ wheel centres fit them. I’m using 15x6 front and 15x7 rear but the same thing applies, better offset with standard front end width and diff narrowed by 3/4” each side. Only using 205/60/15 front and 225/60/15 rears though.
