So good, even if not a V8.

Wow! Spoilt though by the restoration within an inch of their lives of the M/C, carby & alternator (Oh Boy isn't that way out of place!). Why oh why didn't they just repair them and leave all the patina??

Col, did you take a pic of the info stand - would be interesting to read?

Only this one, not sure if it expands enough to read?

That will have an almost Unicorn head on it for the A/C compressor mount. It’s exactly the sort of car you’d buy in the 90’s or early 2000’s for $3000, throw the driveline in the scrap and put a SBC, Muncie or TH350 and 9” into it.

Thanks Col, able to read ok from your pic but expands up further too if required. Interesting reading, so worth taking the time to do so.

Not sure who wrote the text, should have proof read it first? A 186S GTS? No such thing, it’s just an HK GTS. Like calling it an 3300 SL/R. Introduced in 1967?

I’d have it tomorrow though!

While this place said the cars were not show queens, there were still quite a few interesting jiggers there..
The XB with the period vinyl roof, showed clearly just how much tyre room those big 2 doors had.

The mechanical restorations will age soon enough. You could probably just spray some saline on the shiny surfaces. I had to chuckle, reading the last paragraph. What a great find.

Nice car! What a ramble of a display card though! I still don’t get why people always seem try to make some significance about GMH’s intentions with the HJ and HX coupes “retaining” the HQ rear styling? Most of HJ did. It’s only sedans that changed, the rest are as per HQ. I’m also confused about the statement that a HJ LS was designed as a 2 door Statesman? It’s clear they are the luxury version of the Holden which was Premier. HQ LS was arguably closer in standard spec to Statesman than Premier but Statesman was dropped at the end of HQ.

That bloody awful coloured Torana is in the road of a more interesting car or two!

That white HJ LS isn't going to blow away too many cars at the lights Col. It is almost certainly a 2.78 rear axle and single exhaust like my L31 HJ Premier. They are not exactly quick off the mark compared to a manual GTS with 3.36 rear axle and possible dual exhaust.

Yep, put the nuns back in their Torana. Holdens are for men. Ted was very clear on his thoughts on this matter!

That HK is almost identical to the one we used as a centrepiece to a bonfire party many moons ago.

It had the usual rust in the rear quarters.

None of the many wreckers in the area wanted it even for free.

Owner took the dash out and sold it cheap to another mate.

Then it was parked and the wood stacked around it.

Cheers

Rob

it was white with blue trim and had an ugly  blue 1/2 vinyl roof

Time for it to get a full late model drivetrain under that patina.
