3.36 lsd non xu1 diff stencil ?

Hi guy's just wondering what the diff stencil code would be in a 3.36 lsd lc lj that wasn't xu1, as in no baffles, does anyone know? Danny.

Someone will have a broadcast sheet that will have that picking slip code on it. You just have to find them. Only thing working against you is LSD is rare where it isn’t standard

Someone will have a broadcast sheet that will have that picking slip code on it. You just have to find them. Only thing working against you is LSD is rare where it isn’t standard

3100X engined LC XU1 didn't have baffles in the diff housing so the code numbers for 3.36 and 3.08 should be the same for S, SL & GTR optioned with LSD.

That gives you more options for broadcast sheets to find.

 I have a copy of a broadcast sheet for an LJ GTR with G80 LSD optioned, axle code is DJ. According to the BETSBAC code this car has a 3.08 diff, which should mean a DA diff housing code?

I also have seen a copy of a CK XU-1 broadcast sheet with the same DJ diff housing code

3.08 was standard for a GTR wasn't it? That broadcast sheet must be for a 3.08 rear axle car as there is no option code for a rear axle just G80 for LSD, and if the Service/Warranty report says 3.08 then that is what it'll be. I'd imagine DJ must be the correct rear axle housing for a nodular iron centre, it'll have the couple of welded nuts rather than studs as used on the grey iron 6cyl centres? If you've seen DJ on an LC XU1 that is supposed to have the oil barriers/baffles then was it a 3.08 optioned car? If so maybe you've found a little anomaly, in that possibly GMH always used the baffled housings with LSD? It wouldn't be unheard of, they did something similar when 3.08 banjo was optioned on HK 6cyl. It was such a rare option they didn't even bother making a 6cyl banjo centre, they used a V8 one and had a special tailshaft with the V8 uni at the rear.

Yes 3.08 was standard for GTR. Yes the CK Xu-1 broadcast sheet I've seen has DJ as axle code, but I didn't see any of the options listed or capture the PSN so it may have been a 3.08 optioned car.

So if DJ is correct for 3.08 LSD unfortunately that doesn't answer Gary's question on the 3.36 LSD axle code. Hopefully there are more broadcast sheets out there?

I have copies of half a dozen or so, including one I found under the carpet of my old August 72 XU-1 but they all have WM or XM 3.36 LSD

That CK Broadcast sheet is a bit of a wierd one.

The speedo driven gear 647 suits Opel 4spd and 3.08:1 ratio rear axle. I believe it is safe to say rear axle assy code DJ relates to 3.08:1 ratio.

Transmission 486 is the Aussie M20 4spd 3.05:1 ratio 1st gear and RED tailshaft to suit but transmission shift rods are 109 & 114, both to suit Opel 4spd.

G/shift control 313 I can't find for either Opel 4spd or Aussie M20 but as the lever and yoke assy for Aussie 4spd in LC & LJ is 2819374 I can only assume 313 relates to an Opel 4spd shifter assy but that shifter assy was not offered as a spare part through NASCO or GMP&A.

I believe the broadcast sheet and it's errors are legit.

If it was being shipped by rail then wax was probably mandatory. I remember GMH sent out a Dealer Service letter in 1973 (IIRC) addressing the issue of Dealer complaints of rust contamination of paint finishes.

Metal dust from the trains brakes was settling on the cars and pitting into the paint. The solution was a heavy coat of wax on all vehicles shipped by rail.
