Hey all,

With thoughts of the odd Roll Race entering my head, how and where have people attached tow points to their LH/LX/UCs? I am thinking I can mount tow points on the front cross member and rear chassis respectively, but any guidance would be appreciated. Bear in mind it's a flared road car, so wanting to be discreet and avoid tearing off bodywork if used.

Do they need to be proper CAMS sanctioned tow points? Whatever that means!

I was thinking something like those red things that hang out the front of 4x4. Just Google "rated tow points" and you'll see what I mean. They aren't very big things, but they do bolt to a chassis which is something a Torana doesn't really have, but if you made them right you could have them sticking out the front through the front spoiler brake duct holes. The problem is going to be where there is enough strength in the front of a Torana to attach them to, you'd potentially have to go back to the crossmember as you said. At the rear you'd probably be able to look at how an old LH-LX towbar attaches and use that area of the car, but again it's all cheese on a Torana compared to bigger cars.

The fabric ones are easy to cable tie up and out of the way until they are needed.

Or do as a lot of modern cars do and have a long eye bolt that screws into a welded on nut.

What would you attach those eye bolts to Laurie? Not much on a road going Torana front or rear with enough strength to attach it to!

The options would be the crossmember, or bore a hole large enough for it to pass through the bumper, and have a nut welded onto the rear of the bumper bracket.   At the rear, I think a plate bolted where the tow bar normally goes as you suggested.

Thanks all. Bumper bracket seems the go for the front one, though not very discreet! Ha ha. Anyway, will have a think, that's all a big help.
