Did the LJ XU1 have an Accelerator Return Spring connecting the Throttle Rod (my terminology) to the fire wall?
While I have your attention, what is the correct position for the carby brass tags? Front right screw or rear right screw? (When viewed from the front of car)
I have seen some 1972 LJ XU1 with and some without a throttle linkage return spring. However, the Feb 1972 LJ parts catalogue does not list a throttle linkage return spring for XU1, nor for GTR, and 6cyl S & SL models.
The 150 and 175CD carbs have an integral throttle return spring on the throttle shaft and the LJ GTR, S & SL 6cyl engines have a throttle return spring attached to the carburettor so a return spring on the throttle linkage at the firewall was not necessary. The 1973 LJ 6cyl models (incl XU1) had the throttle return spring tab on the firewall ledge just below the heater deleted in production.
All the above said, the LC XU1 had a throttle linkage return spring, the part number is listed in the LC parts catalogues.
The brass carby ID tags are located on the front left hand screw as you view the CD stromberg from the side of the car looking over the air cleaner.
