(Tried to put this thread in the Rare Spares section but couldn't start a new topic, so Mods shift it if you want)

Just advising that the Roxburgh Park VIC store (Nth side of Melb) has been closed since mid Nov 2024 due to being fire affected by a restaurant fire next door.

Unfortunately there is still no message advising this when their phone system kindly puts you on hold for the next available operator - who will never answer the call!

And the website will still allow you to order parts online too- a least for pickup, like I did and then a wasted 2 1/2 hour trip to collect :-(

So beware! (Bayswater store operating as normal, but its certainly not close)

Cheers,

JPXU1

What to expect (as per my experience continuing on) if you don't heed the above warning.....

I rang the business number from outside the store yesterday to enquire what was likely to happen with my order and the chap was surprised I was still able to place an order- I advised the phone still went to on hold too, so hopefully all this has been rectified??

2 of my parts were supposed to be sent via Express Post yesterday afternoon so there was a chance I would have them in time for the planned work this weekend.

That didn't happen, instead they have been sent Express Post from HILTON SA ?? this afternoon, so probably won't get them until next Tuesday - great, car in bits in a mate's garage :-(

And the call back to confirm never happened either!

Of course this is all  :nopity: but very  :banghead:  :furious:  :furious:

A fire can't be helped i guess, but poor service?...that can be helped.

Funny business model that RSP....seemed to be going well with outlets for their gear in lots of local car parts places.

Quiet easy to find stuff, wander around and look at things that might be needed.

Then they got sold to GPC and decided to pull the selling from the local shops and sell through only a few corporate stores & Repco, as owned by the same people now. Makes sense, why pay distributors when you already have bricks and mortar of your own.

However, around here at least, the Repco's hold no stock at all, so you never get the touchy feely opportunity. If a new product is released, you wouldn't even see it.

You want it, they can order it in for you, .........may as well just get it on line and never go through the shop at all. There goes another opportunity to sell you other stuff on the day.

Like I said, a funny way to go about things.....unless they don't want you to touchy feely/inspect until after you pay?......dunno.

Maybe their data said 95% of all sales were  online, so why waste time stocking stuff on shelves....who knows?

A quote from one of the original owners of RSP when it was sold  -"There is only upside to this, you won’t really see a change in the Rare Spares brand at all."

No, but historically they have stocked a lot of RS stuff.

The Hilton SA store has some sort of special status. Can’t remember what. I went in there the other day for a pair of front door cards for the wife’s new FB and was told they don’t stock them any more. There were plenty of parts on display but no cars like they used to.
