Hi Everyone
Happy New Year to you all. Just a question re LC/LJ speedo cables. My LC has a 308 and Trimatic with the shift on the drivers side. The speedo cable goes from the speedo, through the firewall and into a small aluminium looking mechanism. Another cable then goes from the other side of the mechanism into the tranny. I have snapped the cable (probably because I didnt route it properly under the dash) and I am not sure if its a standard 6cyl cable, a V8 one or a custom one. How many types are there? How do I know which one I have.
All help appreciated.

I\The "aluminium mechanism" sounds to me like speedo converter.
The 2 cables will be custom. One from the auto to the converter & one from the converter to the speedo.

Thanks Dr Terry. I'll get under it tomorrow and pull the cable out and then I'll try and match it up. The converter I assume is to converts from manual gearbox speed cable to auto? I am hoping the piece from the speed to converter is the standard 1600mm long speedo cable.

No, the converter corrects the speedo reading, if/when a diff ratio or tyre size is changed.
See an instrument guy to get a new cable made, not expensive.

Ok got it, so the bit from the back of the speedo to converter won't be standard?
Any clues who I could go to in Melbourne? There's Howard Isntruments in Heidelberg but I'm no chance of getting anything out of them anytime soon.
