Hi All

Just seen this on the news;

Thousands of Commodore, Colorado and Caprice owners could be entitled to compensation due to transmission faults.

If you purchased one of these cars in the last 13 years you could be getting compensation - even if you no longer own it.

Maurice Blackburn Lawyers has launched a class action against General Motors Australia and New Zealand Pty Ltd on behalf of people who purchased certain Holden Models between Jan 1, 2011 and Dec 24, 2024.

Holden Owners [Past and Present] can find out more about the class action - and register - at the Maurice Blackburn Law

Firm's website.

Models; Colorado 7 , Colorado , Trailblazer , Commodore VE , VF ,

Berlina VE ,

Calais VE , VF , WM series II , WN

Holden ute VE , VF

Cheers Dan

We all know Maurice Blackburn stands to be the biggest winner from all this.

Sounds like a lot of BS. I'm in the trade & apart from a few Colorados I've not noticed a trend.

I personally own a VE V6 with a 6L45 (280K on the speedo) &  VFII V8 with a 6L80 (170K) with no issues.

The media reports make it sound like another Powershift debacle.

You would be mad not to join if you meet the criteria. There is no downside.

The lawyers don't do this stuff without enough data to show a reasonable prospect of success.

Everyone hates lawyers until you need one!

Totally agree Dr Terry - We get way more BTR failures than GM stuff. And always cringe when a customer comes in with a Ford Focus...

Is it only the original purchasers they are after? Otherwise VE V6 junkers might be worth stashing?

We have 2 VF2 in the family.
I went on that website and had a look.
Pretty open sort of thing...just enter name and car etc.

They also have a suite of other Class Actions on the go.
There's a JB Hi Fi one, claiming those extended warranties were questionable at best.
I signed up for that one, as a long time ago I paid for one on a new dishwasher.
Some time later, there was a drama with it.
I got out the warranty doco and read it front to back a few times ( Iv'e never seen anyone do that in a JB store at the time of purchase) and it pretty well excluded every single thing that could go wrong.
I actually rang the number and spoke to someone and asked them could they give me an example of anything that COULD be claimed?
Couldn't or wouldn't.
Thus, I'm happy to chase the ambulance on that one.

Bought a new Colorado in 2018. In early 2022 the shuddering and jerky shift changes started, car only had 45000 k's of normal road driving, no 4wd, no pulling caravans. Holden replaced the converter under warranty. Sold the vehicle in late 2022 with 48000k's as I didn't want the cost of replacing the TQ again after warranty ran out. It was a known issue as a number of people on FB Colorado site spoke about it with a number awaiting TQ's to come into the country so as to get theirs changed. Holden had the vehicle for 2 days. Spoke to a transmission specialist in Liverpool beforehand and he knew of the issue and advised me to pursue it thought Holden as a warranty due to high possibility of it occurring again.

Sounds to me like an issue with the Colorado, but the lawyers have included the entire Commodore line-up in the class action.

The Caprice has the occasional clunk/thunk at low speed. Its better since the trans fluid was changed but is still present now and again.

Would I pay to get it fixed? No.

But if its a known fault then yes.

Signed up.

Wonder if they will chase HSV at some stage?

My brother's Colorado had a converter replaced under warrantee as well.

However this whole thing with the class action smells like clickbait to me.  It all started on Facebook.

My point precisely. We hear of Colorado torque converter issues, but not in regular Holdens. The class action mob just threw them all in together.
