Hi All

I have seen many pictures of LC GTR with 161S motors with the 2600S decal on the air cleaner, but I have not found a picture of a 173S with a 2850S decal on the air cleaner. I assume the 173S didn't come with a decal on the air cleaner, only on the rocker cover?

Cheers

John

2850S engine had the rocker cover decal, no air cleaner decal.

Hi John What Dave states above is correct. In my humble opinion, the 173S is perhaps the rarest of all engines, being manufactured from around July 71 through to end of the end (approx). Many GTR owners owning a 173S (again from personal research), replaced these engines with the now available 202 from the HQ Holden of this same period. Please PM if you would like a research article I did when I was Historian for the Hunter Valley Torana Club. Cheers Dave

Thanks. I was just interested why you didn't see pictures of a 2850S decal on an air filter. Should the picture above have the Blue and Red decal or be clean?

No decals on the chrome air cleaner.

So your GTR had the decal on the air cleaner (minus the 2600S) and no 2850S decal on the rocker cover?

I have this same page/ poster in the shed...1971 GTR advert.
I always thought the rocker cover/ air cleaner look for the CF cars was as per the pic( & as Dave says). However, just to make the picture fuzzy...you may note what appears to be a wood look gear knob, which is a total furphy?.Attached File  Screenshot_20250119_171847_Google.jpg   230.89K   4 downloads
