Gday all
Finally getting closer to putting this engine back together and back in the car
been check measuring everything I can think of so she’s on the money.
Got a set of Hastings moly rings
did the right thing, best I could, checked every single one
Oil control scraper set measures up all at .031”
Second set all at .022”
Top rings are .019, .017, .023, .017, .017, .018.

I don’t like that 23 thou one at all.
Tried it in each bore, tried the others in each bore, same results.
No turbos here, I think 23thou is too big
I want another one at this point
Or will I get away with running it?
Just emailed Hastings with the query, see if they come back to me
What do you guys reckon?

I reckon it will be fine Bruce. But if it bugs you (and I get it if it does) buy another set and have a look.

Since my last u beaut expensive build self imploded I did the following -

Took my last block i used - had been honed/re-ringed 5 times since being bored.
I honed it for the 6th time in the shed and slapped it together.

Hastings rings worst gap i got was .025" on cylinder two.
Have done roughly only 100km on this slapper.

Dry comp test 165psi, wet 172 psi. With a .025" gap, I'm pretty happy with that ring seal!
