Fly if you get "V8" out of that, I want some of what you are smoking.
R
Nope, your probaly right R !!!! Maybe LG ????
Though before we go laughing our heads off to much lets look at some facts :
On Friday the 30th of June 1972, Holden offically cancelled their V8 LJ programme, in the following month of July 1972 Holden completed only a total of 7 XU-1 toranas. Then in the month of August 1972 Holden produced a total of 200 XU-1 Toranas. So is it a crazy and laughable assumption to assume that the cars originally intended to be the V8 LJ,s were remodelled into what we call a 1972 " Bathurst" LJ GTR XU-1 ?
JUNE : 30th, Holden cancel production of the V8 LJ
JULY : Holden complete a total of 7 LJ GTR XU-1,s
AUGUST : Holden complete a total of 200 LJ GTR XU-1,s
Think about it for a while.................

Larry...Sagman spoke to Joe Felice at P I...personally...he says there were 3 made...now we know Joe was running the show...and like me and Sagman he is getting old...but I think the memory is still resonably OK..well Sagman thought so anyway...he told Larry where they went...over to Sagman...the plot thickens with dis-information...
R
Ok Rory, for one moment lets totally forget about the 3 V8 LJ prototypes and lets think production............

Ask Joe or Harry how many LJ V8's were built and it looks like the answer is 3?
Has anyone asked either of them how many shells were prepared for the project?

Just reading this isn't there 2 questions?
Ask Joe or Harry how many LJ V8's were built and it looks like the answer is 3?
Has anyone asked either of them how many shells were prepared for the project?
Question 1 : It would appear that there were 3 prototypes, one pink, one white and one orange ?
Joe Felices orange prototype at Bathurst in 1973, note the twin fillers on the quarters..........
Question 2 : I have no idea how many shells were prepared however under the C.A.M.S. Rules Holden would have been required to build 200 units. Though i believe they were on there way to building 300, 100 extra for the 2.78 diff ratio Harry Firth wanted.
V8, Detroit Locker (1/1V, 1-7-1972), 2.78 Diff Ratio, a car Harry Firth believed capable of taking on the GT HO Phase 4 and beating it .................
If Holden did prepare the V8 shells for production what happened to them ? Were they squashed, put into a crash barrier or turned into 1972 " Bathurst " LJ GTR XU-1,s ?

I realise this is a VERY old thread, but I'm midway through another old thread-arguement about the XU2 on another site...You got any evidence of this? Only Turbo Torrie I'm aware of was the UC SL/T, and that was dealer fitted. Just interested that's all........could be possible as there were turbo lh-lx's fitted up at dealerships.
Would this qualify as a dealer fitted V8 Turbo?

I doubt this was ever fitted by a dealer, but there were a few aftermarket kits around at the time. And it is a drawthru setup, not blowthru as the seller says.
Hope that helps you,
Grant..

Don't quite understand what you are asking?

Sorry, my response there did not relate to the original question in the thread about a dealer fitted Turbo to the V8.
I do know it is a draw through, but, have a look at the VERY factory looking CAST offside exhaust manifold....

That is why we ask more than one.........and we have a register into the dozens of contacts now, don't we Laz.......on another note,,, there are some fading old memories out there, the only thing wrong with the wise stories that come from old men in a bar or from anywhere is every time you hear them thay change... im not putting shit on anyone or disrespecting any of how old race legends.
