Is that all? As in both engines complete fan to flywheel, sump to carby?

Its more like 100lbs lighter then a cast iron V8. The LS1 weighs 3kg more then a Buick V6 3.8L (commodore engine) remove the bulky A/C compressor and P/S pump and you've savd near another 12-15kg.

I had to run 4/6 cylinder suspension in the front of mine due to the weight being around the same as a 202. The V8 gear put it up to high and way to stiff.

btw when I had the LS1 on my engine stand the stand would barely have any lean to it, when I put the 308 on the stand you can see the tip on the stand.

LS1, alloy block, heads, rocker covers, timing cover, composite plastic manifold, alloy water pump.

the tolerance is good, its the big clearances, like all alloy engines, they love a bit of slapping.
we had a brand new $90k Alfa twin spark at work, slapped louder then our farm tractor, but we have a VY SS ute at work, you need ear muffs when you crank it in the morning. yet some are quiet as a whistle and make more power at idle then the old 308's at 6,000 haha

My VY SV8 Series II is the last black one made in Sept 04 with an LS2 block...it is as tough as...no slap or noises and hammers...maybe I was lucky or they got it together when the LS2 blocks arrived?

I have heard all these stories about slap and useing oils , mine is quiet and uses no oil inbetween 10 thousand oil changes , i cant see how it would only be 22 lighter as it is mostly alloy , and it goes like no 308 i have ever been in but i do have a few add ons now , and it was Rory takeing me for a drive in his that made me do it , TREX

LS2 is second generation alloy block for LS1. Is also the block used for the small block 427 in US. Made in Canada Factory. Mine is alloy LS2.Was checked via LS1 Forum.
